Arlynn realizing her True nature with Zane

[00:00:00] Arlynn: that's why I know that David is my teacher. Mm-hmm. Because even with all these other guys, the non-dual teachers, it feels like, um, they have all the jargon, but you can't touch it.

[00:00:17] Zane: Yeah. I agree.

[00:00:19] Arlynn: And then David... See, this is important for me to, to do this with you because I think, I still think I'm shit and that I'm not realized. So, so then I realized that like with David- All of the teachings, it's like it goes through you.

[00:00:37] Zane: Mm-hmm.

[00:00:38] Arlynn: And then you realize that your human being is part of the teaching.

[00:00:45] Yeah. Is part of the, um, you know, like whatever you wanna call it. You know, you go th- you go through your, your personal self. Mm-hmm. So for example, when he mentioned my pottery, he said, "You know, you've been doing," you know, what'd he call it? Um, uh, you know, like, "From a long... From when you first started, you know, your, your infinite being was doing your pottery, so you've been actually- Ex-

[00:01:11] in that space for a long time."

[00:01:13] Zane: Yeah.

[00:01:14] Arlynn: And, um, so, uh... Let's see. Yeah, so that's that. And then, so when I had that, um, that thing with David, the... Just the question, when I, I c- I had the nerve m- to get up, ask him a question. Mm-hmm. I went to the studio the next day. I also work with disabled people with, um, you know, teaching them clay, and that's another wow.

[00:01:42] But anyway, um, so I went back to the studio, and there's a woman that's also inters- interested in non-duality. So I was talking to her and I was telling her about, oh, I got to ask a question to David and blah, blah, blah. And there's a thing, like, it's... When you cut a piece of clay off, it's a square, and then you have to make it into a ball.

[00:02:01] Mm-hmm. And I've been doing pottery since I was 19, and I could never, ever, you know, make it into a ball. It just always had edges, and then you have to do it on the wheel. Anyway. So I was talking to her and I was going like this, getting ready for, to make my, my piece, and I was talking to her all about David and the meeting and, you know, and just how wonderful it was, and I was going like that.

[00:02:26] And then I opened up my eyes, and my ball, I made a ball for the first time. So, because it was the infinite being going through- Yeah ... doing the work. Yeah. And then that same day, like, I work... I, you know, I've been working... I, I just, they, they wanted me to make all these millions of mugs. And then that same day, right after David's, after the meeting, uh, I was...

[00:02:51] I had experiences of, I guess- That, you know, um, uh, things were, you know, instead of... It's like I wasn't solving any problem Kind of

[00:03:03] Zane: unfolding on their own.

[00:03:06] Arlynn: Yeah.

[00:03:07] Zane: Yeah.

[00:03:07] Arlynn: Yes. So, um, anyway, let's see. Let's see. Listening to ... Doing chores, downloading, yeah, learn. And so I feel like every time I listen to them, you know, they talk about impersonal being, the Koshas, impersonal, infinite, you know, there's all this language, and it's like, "What?"

[00:03:26] You know, I just feel like I don't understand, but I do.

[00:03:31] Zane: Yeah.

[00:03:32] Arlynn: So I think it's, um, that I need to learn the vo- vocabulary. And I, you know, I have David's book on my bedside, and I just start to read it, and then I don't read it. Mm-hmm. So I have, like, humongous blocks about, um, this self-realization thing. So, so, um, so for example, and yeah, so...

[00:04:00] Oh, in- so instead of that we must meditate all day, that's really not what... It's not, like, that's what we talked about, is that, you know, it goes through you, and you're, you're a part of the, the process. It's not like all these- Yeah ... all these words, and then somehow you're gonna be self-realized. So- ... I realize that doesn't how it work, which is why, like, I don't even need to listen to, like, before I was listening to, you know, Carl Jung and, you know, just a million guys, you know, with all their, like, input and...

[00:04:29] Now it's noise.

[00:04:31] Zane: Yeah. Yeah.

[00:04:32] Arlynn: All I need to do is listen to David.

[00:04:35] Zane: Yeah.

[00:04:35] Arlynn: That's what I feel like now. Or you, or, you know, like, the... I call it the lineage.

[00:04:40] Zane: Yeah.

[00:04:41] Arlynn: Like John Wheeler, n- uh, what's his name? Nisargadatta, you know, um-

[00:04:46] Zane: Nisargadatta, Sailor Bob.

[00:04:48] Arlynn: Yes, exactly. Yeah.

[00:04:49] Zane: Yeah.

[00:04:50] Arlynn: Because they're all connected. Yeah. And they, they all, um...

[00:04:54] They're on the same page, right? Yeah. Yeah. And the other guys, now I realize that these guys, no, it's, um... You know, I don't, I don't wanna diss them either because I, I'm sure that people are, you know, getting something from them. But anyway, but you, you understand what I'm saying. Do you agree with that?

[00:05:15] Zane: Yeah. Well, well, well-

[00:05:17] Arlynn: Or am I being judging with them?

[00:05:21] Zane: I, it, it could be an element of both. I'm not, it, I'm... It, it kind of doesn't matter that much either way. Yeah. Yeah. But I do full-heartedly agree with you. David's the best. Like, he just is. Yeah. He's way more integrated. He's way more grounded. He explains all the questions. David doesn't really run from any questions.

[00:05:46] He'll, he'll answer stuff like... I've listened to hundreds of hours of Rupert. Like, I went through a big Rupert phase. I would listen to him all day, every day for months, and he's really, really good at making, like, poems basically. Like, he says the most beautiful sounding lines, but kind of like you were saying, like how it goes through you.

[00:06:06] They're kind of airy-fairy, but they're not very grounded and, like, practical- Yeah.

[00:06:10] Arlynn: You

[00:06:10] can't

[00:06:10] touch it ...

[00:06:11] Zane: li- But the, the thing is, with Rupert or Carl Jung or any of these guys, all of these guys are recognizing and feeling into truth in varying degrees, and there is a lot of truth in their teachings. So it's like- Mm-hmm

[00:06:27] you don't have to dump the baby out with the bath water. Really kind of the- Exactly ... one of the beautiful things that I've gained from David's teachings and the clarity from that, and this is something that David even says happens following realization and having clarity, is that we develop the ability to look at those teachings and pick out the good from the bad.

[00:06:49] It's like you can get the full good without the distortions and, like, the kind of misconceptions and things that, that a lot of the other teachings fall victim to. Um, but so it's re- There's nothing wrong with you going to the retreat. Like, if anything- No. Yeah ... you could get even more out of it from here because you can get the f- the full benefit- That's right

[00:07:10] without getting diluted into unnecessary- Yeah ... conceptualization and, and all of that. Yeah.

[00:07:17] Arlynn: Right. Yeah. Yeah. That's what I thought. Actually, I went to another retreat two or three years ago. I can't remember. This was in the States. And I was the first one to ask a question, and I was really green then.

[00:07:29] Mm-hmm. And my question wasn't a good question. You know,

[00:07:33] it was like, "

[00:07:34] But what's your question?" You know, I was, like, basically running down my past. You know, like, that I was, you know, um, you know, in an ashram for years and years and years and, you know, blah, blah, blah, blah, you know? And so I said, "My question to you is, like, where does that fit into now?"

[00:07:52] And he got mad at me

[00:07:54] Zane: Hmm

[00:07:55] Arlynn: He said, "That's not a question. Who's next?" And people, people were looking at me like, "Oh my God, that poor girl."

[00:08:03] Zane: Right.

[00:08:04] Arlynn: You know? But, but I'm a potter and he's a potter, so- Mm-hmm ... and we did, we had a show at this thing, and I had my pagodas there, and he really loved them. So at the end we made, we made peace.

[00:08:15] But... And I remember... And then I said to... So they were saying, "Are you okay?" I said, "You know what? I'm more than okay." Something about... That was actually... That, that reaction is gonna help me more than if he didn't react like that, because it showed me... You know, I just took it and learned from it. But- Yeah.

[00:08:31] Zane: Yeah

[00:08:31] so I'm

[00:08:31] Arlynn: sort of going off the... You know? So I think, like, I don't see... I understand. I do not see myself as, like, you know, s- self-realized. I have moments, like especially when I listen to things, like, like, um, there's one that where, you know, um, David told the person, he said, "Now close your eyes and look behind your eyelids."

[00:09:00] Mm-hmm. And when he said that, it was like, "Oh, yeah," 'cause I do that a lot. Like, when I close my eyes, you know, I see better. You know what I mean? Yeah. Like, like-

[00:09:11] Zane: Yeah ... yeah.

[00:09:11] Arlynn: So I s- so anyway, um, yeah. So, so I think, um- So, and then I realized too that, um, instead of, like sometimes, you know, you think, "Oh, you just gotta meditate all day."

[00:09:28] But one of the things that I realized is that whether it's doing my laundry, doing my pottery, doing ... Like, going through your day with your, you know, with things that... Oh, I wrote this down. So move through your own personal day, what you know needs to be done, but avoid. Accept invitations that bring you calm, and decline those that are nice in the beginning because it's an escape, but then the swirls of pain come because the mind is used to having its way.

[00:09:59] [00:10:00] So I'm, you know, working with all that stuff. And so then I realize, you know, I, like, I think that I should be doing something else that I already am, but, but actually w- So one of the things is, um, like I, sometimes I really get blocked on making my pottery. And then, so I finally got in the studio, and it, and I just ha- brings so much joy is, is, you know, my work just, you know, when I make stuff, it's, it's brings me joy. S- and that's, so that's, you know, if I want, I wanna be doing it.

[00:10:33] I wanna, I wanna be it. But-

[00:10:35] Zane: Yeah ... it's,

[00:10:36] Arlynn: no. I don't know. So yeah. So and I was nervous about today, but then I thought, "Why?"

[00:10:47] Zane: No.

[00:10:49] Arlynn: Anyway. The,

[00:10:49] Zane: the ner- the nerves are normal. I think everyone gets a little nervous for Zoom calls. It's kind of a little weird format. Yeah. Getting on a video call- Yeah, exactly ... with someone you've never talked to before.

[00:11:01] Arlynn: Yeah.

[00:11:01] Zane: Um, but so can I ask-

[00:11:05] Arlynn: Yes ...

[00:11:07] Zane: can you see that everything is made of awareness?

[00:11:16] Arlynn: No. Okay. Here's... I don't... So I, I don't understand what awareness is, what you mean by awareness. Like, that's what I mean about, like, it's almost like I need a vocabulary with all the definitions of all of this stuff. So what's awareness?

[00:11:37] Zane: Well, so there's, there's, there's three kind of main elements of the relative experience, and this is- relates to the Koshas.

[00:11:48] There's thoughts, which are like, like our mind, like thoughts, concepts, beliefs. And then there's emotions, which again, fairly obvious, like sadness- Yeah ... grief, euphoria, peace, anger- Mm-hmm ... et cetera. And then there's the physical body and the physical world.

[00:12:10] Arlynn: Mm-hmm.

[00:12:11] Zane: But all of those Are made of something in terms of how we experience it.

[00:12:18] They're, they're made of something. They're occurring within something, and they're made of something, which is our own awareness. Like, you can have... The thoughts can come and go, but what's steady the whole entire time is awareness, and the thoughts are made of awareness because they're existing within awareness, and they're, they're like waves on the ocean of awareness.

[00:12:49] Arlynn: Mm-hmm. Yes

[00:12:55] Yeah, because it's all one, the ocean and the waves

[00:13:00] Zane: And it's all made of the same stuff. It's like the forms are ever-changing, but the awareness, which is what it's all made of, that's never changing. Not in the sense that the awareness is one thing and the forms are another, because the forms are made of awareness.

[00:13:20] But it's never changing in the sense that... And it's nice that you do pottery, 'cause this is a good example. Mm. It's in the sense that, say you took a, a big chunk of c- clay and you're just sculpting it into different things. You could sculpt it into a circle or a triangle or a horse or-

[00:13:38] Arlynn: Mm-hmm …

[00:13:39] Zane: a bear or whatever, and you could say the forms are ever-changing, but the clay itself is never changing.

[00:13:46] Arlynn: Oh, okay.

[00:13:48] Zane: Because it's clay the whole way through. It's all clay. Right. Even though the forms, you could say the forms are illusory, temporary, impermanent, but the clay, the one s- primordial substance out of which all that is made, you could say that that substance is infinite, never-changing, both formless and a form.

[00:14:12] Like, it's beyond both, because you can shape it into form, but it can also be formless. Like, does that kind of start to make sense- Yeah ... in, in terms of these- Yeah ... descriptions?

[00:14:24] Arlynn: Yeah, it does. But you know what? Honestly, I think... So, so I guess the biggest thing for me is that, um, I feel... Like, even when you're talking, I'm grasping it, but then two minutes later I'll say like, "What the hell?

[00:14:42] What d- what does that mean?" So I'm really- Yeah ... blocked. So, so what I wanted help from you with as a tutor, you know, coach, you know, that's more like that, is, um, like, I need to find, um... Like you were saying, it, it seems like I'm, like, self-realized or whatever, but I need to... I feel like I need to own it more in the sense of, you know, getting the vocabulary, 'cause it's all there.

[00:15:12] It's in all the, the talks, you know, the book. Um- Yeah ... and so that... And vocabulary's important. That's what I realized by listening to... Like, I started listening to the, um, you know, David, um, you know, being with people and they, they realize... They, they become self-realized while he's talking to them.

[00:15:37] Zane: Yeah.

[00:15:38] Arlynn: And there's all this language that it feels like it goes like that.

[00:15:43] So even though I understand it maybe, what's the word? Um-

[00:15:51] Zane: Conceptually

[00:15:53] Arlynn: Yeah, conceptually and, and just, um, it's just there. You know, it's like for... You know, like one of the things David said is that, you know, you've been, you've been working through infinite, you know, um-

[00:16:10] Zane: Being …

[00:16:11] Arlynn: in- infinite being when you started working with your clay.

[00:16:16] You know? And I went, "Oh, really?" You know, so, so I think there might be something inside of me that thinks there has to be this crash, bang, boom, "Oh, wow- Yeah ... I'm self-realized. I'm there." S- But that's not, that's not how this works.

[00:16:30] Zane: Well, that can happen. That- Mm-hmm ... you can have big expansions and unfoldments and all of those things.

[00:16:37] But the key is, is that all of that, all of what you're talking about there, even in terms of getting it or not getting it, all of that, that has to do with the energetic side of things. But self-realization is not about the energetic side of things. Self-realization is seeing what all of the energy is made of.

[00:17:01] Arlynn: Mm.

[00:17:01] Zane: And it's made of awareness. So even if you feel like you don't get it, you can see that even the feeling of not getting it is also made of awareness. It's all made of awareness. The-

[00:17:13] Arlynn: Which is, yeah, which is one of the things I read or heard about today is, um, so that whether it doesn't matter whether you're, um, you know, the energy is, you know, you're feeling like shit or you're feeling euphoric, it's just all part of...

[00:17:31] Because we're more than that, or not that we're more than that, but I, I don't know.

[00:17:36] Zane: Well, well, in, in terms of the, the practicality of our life, it's obviously ideal to be in better energies, like higher, more expansive energies. The distinction is just with self-realization, self-realization is true no matter what state your energy is in because it's all made of awareness.

[00:17:58] And the key is the, the big inversion in spiritual circles is that everyone thinks that you need to get to a heightened state in order to be self-realized. That's kind of what you were describing is thinking like, "Oh, like I, I need to be beyond," or like, "I feel like I don't quite get it," or maybe there's this missing thing.

[00:18:17] All of those are examples of thinking that you need to be in a heightened state or to do something with the energy to be self-realized. But it's actually the other way around. You don't need to be in a heightened state in order to be self-realized. The way that you get to heightened states and you dissolve these blockages is by being self-realization to exactly where you're at.

[00:18:45] It's being in that isness or oneness exactly where you're at.

[00:18:50] Arlynn: Mm.

[00:18:51] Zane: And that, that's how the invitations get neutralized. Um, and that's the reason why, like my website is called Flowing Isness. The reason that I like the word isness, and isness is just another word for awareness or effortless being or source.

[00:19:11] Like people have all of these-

[00:19:12] Arlynn: So they're interchangeable,

[00:19:13] like-

[00:19:13] Zane: Yeah. Or- They all, they all mean the same thing. It's- Yeah ... it's, it's... But the reason that I like the word isness is that it makes a very simple distinction that absolutely everything that is is made of the isness.

[00:19:31] Arlynn: Okay. That makes sense. Yeah.

[00:19:37] Mm-hmm. Yeah, so anyway

[00:19:42] Zane: And, and so the, the, the way that the energies get resolved or the way you decline the invitations, it's not even so much that you say no to them because if you're kind of rejecting them and pushing them down, in a roundabout way you're actually still [00:20:00] saying yes to them 'cause it's like you're reacting to them- Right

[00:20:04] you're suppressing them You're recognizing them, like You're... It, it, it's like the saying, it, which is actually I think Carl Jung first said it, is what we resist persists. And if we're resisting the invitations, in a roundabout way we're actually fueling them. We're actually saying yes to them by, like, pushing on them and kind of holding them in place.

[00:20:23] But the way to, instead of saying decline invitations, I tend to say neutralize invitations because I think that's more accurate in terms of what it looks like. Right The way that you, you neutralize these invitations is by just allowing them to be exactly as they are by knowing that it's all the isness.

[00:20:46] It's, it's like, like saying that you like isness of expansion and peace, but you don't like isness of sadness or fear. It's kind of like saying, "Well, I like clay circles, but I don't like clay squares." But it's all clay- Yeah ... so what's it matter? It's all clay. Right. And then-

[00:21:10] Arlynn: Oh, yeah. That's what... Yeah, so, like, um, oh, the one, um, Alan.

[00:21:17] Alan- Alan Watts ... Taylor.

[00:21:20] Zane: Oh, okay.

[00:21:20] Arlynn: Alan, Alan Taylor, that, uh, that thing that, um, her, her interview with, um, John- Oh,

[00:21:27] Zane: John Wheeler. I know which.

[00:21:28] Arlynn: Yeah Alan Taylor, I think, or, yeah Yeah. I, I w- even before I knew that that's where David got, you know, pinged, um, I listened to that 'cause John Taylor is part of the line- lineage of- Y-

[00:21:40] Zane: yeah

[00:21:41] Arlynn: But anyway, so one of the things was hedonist, remember?

[00:21:45] Mm-hmm. One of the questions, well, why don't we just be, you know-

[00:21:49] Zane: Hedonist,

[00:21:50] Arlynn: yeah ... if, if it's all the same.

[00:21:52] Zane: Yeah. Well-

[00:21:54] Arlynn: So it's like that, that really

[00:21:57] Zane: Well, the, the reason for why you wouldn't do that is because hedonism is based on, like, lack and fear. So it just gives you more lack and fear. Yeah Like, like that's, that's...

[00:22:10] And that all has to do with the energetic side of things. Um-

[00:22:18] But That's really, that's really the, the kind of key distinction is seeing that it's all made of the isness. And just like with the clay circles and the, the clay squares, when you're only looking at it in terms of forms, then it's like you reject the square. You say, "I don't like the square," and you resist it, and then it just stays as a square.

[00:22:45] But when you look at it in terms of the substance, you realize that the clay square can be reshaped into a clay circle, and that's what happens with awareness. That's how the, the invitations into contraction get reshaped into expansion. But what's even better about awareness than the clay is while with the clay it would take some effort to reshape the square into a circle, awareness actually does that effortlessly on its own.

[00:23:17] It automatically does that because energy, it has a natural flow to it. Our energy is actually, especially our emotions, but all energy, it's trying to flow towards peace, towards expansion, towards euphoria and bliss, and all of the amazing things. But what stops that flow is that, is these tendencies of every time some kind of ch- contracted energy comes up, we clamp down on it, or we resist it, or we reject it, or we try to change it in some way, and then that restricts the flow.

[00:23:58] And then that's what creates these repetitive, emotional, contractive patterns. And then if we keep restricting the flow enough, that's what creates these very visceral, intense emotional outbursts and, like, intense emotional invitations. But the way that we resolve those is as those intense feelings come up in our body, we just meet even those as the isness.

[00:24:24] We know that even those are made of the exact same awareness that peace and love are made of, and so we can just be totally okay with them. We don't have to reject them or resist them in any way, and we also don't have to plug into them and kind of energize and fuel them. We can just neutralize them by fully, fully allowing them to be exactly as they are.

[00:24:49] And then from there, we're not even trying to change them. We don't even care if the invitation comes or it goes. But in that kind of magical and spontaneous way, that's when they do tend to start to lift and resolve and dissolve, and we get more and more expansion and peace and harmony and et cetera

[00:25:13] Arlynn: Wow.

[00:25:15] Okay. I think I'm getting it. Yeah, 'cause I, I... And I... Yeah. So I'm my own w- Like, everything you said, I understood. Yeah. Like, no more blocks. We're... You know what I mean? Like, that's my, that's my problem is I just, you know- And that's o- ... programs, you know, pri- primal programming from you're a piece of shit.

[00:25:36] Zane: And it's-

[00:25:37] Arlynn: Doesn't

[00:25:38] Zane: help

[00:25:38] it's o- it's okay if there's blocks because the blocks are also made of the isness. They're made of the awareness. Mm. And the way that you neutralize those blocks is by no longer rejecting them or, or thinking that there's something wrong with them, but just allowing them to be exactly as they are because they're made of the awareness or they're made of the isness.

[00:26:03] Arlynn: Oh.

[00:26:03] Zane: And then that's when they begin to reshape into clarity, into openness, into flow. And that's probably even what was happening even just in this moment as you're kind of listening to me speak. It's probably... And even, like, when you asked David that question or, and later on in the day when you had the experience with the clay, you probably weren't even putting language to it, but you were just completely immersed in this isness, this just complete allowing- Yes

[00:26:32] everything to be exactly as it is. And that's when you can kind of see in real time a lot of these blocks do start to disappear. Things start to flow and open up. The body settles. Like, everything starts to, to kind of settle and neutralize and release.

[00:26:53] Arlynn: Wow. Okay. I really get it for now.

[00:26:59] Zane: Amazing.

[00:27:00] Arlynn: I do. And so, yeah. So my assignment for me, I can be my own teacher. Kidding. My assignment for me is to, um Just like, uh, like I wanna learn... Like, I, like I hear the language, and I've heard it in, like, David's lectures too.

[00:27:27] Zane: Mm-hmm.

[00:27:28] Arlynn: And the best thing I can do for myself is to even just make a vocabulary book.

[00:27:37] You know? And just through the readings and listening, just write down, you know, like infinite. You know what I mean? Um, 'cause I mean, you just... You know, you're able to just... It's, it's integrated so much into you that it's... It flows out, out. You know, with me, oh, like I can feel it and I'm in it. Yeah. So-

[00:28:02] Zane: The main assignment I would give you is- Yeah

[00:28:05] to give yourself credit for the fact that you are self-realized.

[00:28:09] Arlynn: I am?

[00:28:10] Zane: Because what we just did, that's self-realization. And it... I think you had done that even before this call, which is just noticing that everything is made of awareness. Even thoughts that say otherwise, those are made of awareness, and that's self-realization.

[00:28:31] Because there's- Mm-hmm ... the, the lowercase self, which is, like, the separate physical mind-based self, and then there's the capital Self, which is awareness. Right. And you just realized that everything is the capital Self, so you're fully self-realized.

[00:28:53] Arlynn: Thank you. Yeah. I'll take it.

[00:28:56] Zane: And but the key thing that David talks about is that a lot of teachers, they try to propagate this thing that self-realization is the end of invitations.

[00:29:07] But again, that's not the case. The invitations carry on regardless. And actually, we don't need to get rid of the invitations to be self-realized. It's like I just showed, the way that we get rid of the invitations is to be in that self-realization, just being that awareness to things exactly as they are.

[00:29:31] Like, the lower mind will constantly try to tell us, like, "Oh, I need to be in a heightened state to be in self-realization." But that's the in- that's the inverse. That's the inversion. Even if you're having intense fear or anxiety or doubt or blockages, it's still all made of awareness. And the way that you start to dissolve those and neutralize those is just by resting in that knowing, which [00:30:00] what that looks like is just no longer rejecting and resisting those things.

[00:30:05] 'Cause the lower mind wants to reject and resist itself. It's like it creates blockages, and then it tries to battle with the blockages, which just perpetuates the blockages. But the awareness just allows everything to be exactly as it is. It doesn't even mind the blockages, but that's actually what transforms them.

[00:30:25] That's what neutralizes them and, and reintegrates back into wholeness

[00:30:34] Arlynn: Wow

[00:30:38] Yeah So I'm here right now

[00:30:46] Zane: And it, and, and that's all there ever is. Like, it's all now. Like, now is kind of just another word for awareness. It's like... 'Cause everything is technically made of right now.

[00:30:56] Arlynn: Right.

[00:30:57] Zane: It's-

[00:30:57] Arlynn: Yeah ... Like John, John's song.

[00:31:01] Zane: Yeah. Like,

[00:31:02] Arlynn: be here or something. What's wrong with being here

[00:31:05] Zane: now? Right now if you don't think about it.

[00:31:07] Right.

[00:31:07] Arlynn: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

[00:31:08] Zane: And, and the, the key is, is even if you're already having thoughts of, "Oh, this isn't working. There's a lot of blockages," those thoughts are totally okay. You can just stop feeding those by not resisting and rejecting those thoughts, 'cause that would just be, like, more resistance, which just doubles down on the contraction.

[00:31:32] But by just seeing, again, that even those thoughts are made of the awareness. So even... It's like awareness... When we're looking for awareness, it's like we are awareness subscribing to ideas made of awareness which are telling us that we need to look for awareness. So we're running around in awareness as awareness looking for awareness.

[00:31:56] Right. Yeah. And that's, and that's why they say duality is illusion, and they say, like, suffering is insanity. Because when you see the truth of what is, which is that it's all awareness, it's like, oh, duh. Like, that's so simple and obvious. Yeah. And, like, and it's just the lower mind that baits us in to, like...

[00:32:17] It'll say things like, "Oh, well if I'm self-realized, like, why am I having this challenging feeling?" Or, "Why can't I see the awareness of everybody?" Or something. But all of those have to do with the energetic side of things. But all of that is still made of awareness. It's all made of awareness the whole way through.

[00:32:38] Right.

[00:32:39] Arlynn: Yeah. And that, that's why, like, you know, Sailor Bob and Cat and all these guys, uh, I call it the lineage, they just say, "And it's so simple." And, like, Alan Taylor, you know, had, you know, said, um, that, you know, that our mind gets in the way. And I wrote down her quote. I don't have it with me, but it was so, um...

[00:33:05] You know, that the mind, uh, gets in the way and... Oh, it... Oh, I know what it was. Yeah, it pushes, pushes it out. You know, uh, I can't remember exactly. It was a really- Yeah ... it was just this little thing from her that, um, uh, when, um, uh, John was describing, you know, like, that it's so simple that the mind, um... What did it...

[00:33:31] What was it? Uh, anyway, it was, um- Yeah. That, uh... Oh, the mind pushes it o- o- out, you know, or something like that. Mm-hmm. Anyway, um, yeah. So I mean, I, I, I know that I'm listening to really good stuff, you know, with, with the lineage, you know? And, um, like, just, you know, um, there's... You can tell there's teachers that are out there with the lin- I call it the lineage, that are...

[00:34:09] Because there's non-duality all over the place.

[00:34:13] Zane: Mm-hmm.

[00:34:14] Arlynn: And then there's David. Yeah. You know, and, and, you know, and John and, and, um, you know, the other, the other guys.

[00:34:26] Zane: Yeah.

[00:34:27] Arlynn: So, you know, and I listen to it, like, when I'm doing dishes, which is, like, you know, where it's sort of like you feel like you're downloading the information even.

[00:34:36] And then, but then you really need to sit and meditate on, on the teachings, you know, so that it, um, you can really integrate it into your life. Does that make sense? Yeah. Like, what would you... Would you suggest certain things for me to do, I guess? I guess just keep doing, keep, you know- Well,

[00:35:01] Zane: it's basically the, the whole, the whole integration process, the way it happens is, like, we'll just be living our life and, like, I like how David says, like, you never need to go, you never need to go digging for your, like, your shadow or, like, that kind of thing.

[00:35:19] Like, life will serve you your shadow. You don't need to go looking for it. It'll serve it to you in the form of whatever challenges you have coming up.

[00:35:30] Arlynn: At any

[00:35:30] Zane: given moment. And what that l- At any given moment ... it, it, and what that looks like is, like, it's like some type of situation comes up, say like a relationship situation that triggers some emotional contraction, and then the way the integration happens is by rather than continuing the normal pattern of, like, either suppressing that feeling, which just fuels it, or projecting it, which also fuels it, we just neutralize it by allowing it to be exactly as it is from the isness.

[00:36:05] Just knowing that that feeling is totally okay. It's okay to have anxiety or to have sadness or to have anger or to have shame or grief or anything. Everything is totally okay because it's all the isness. It's all the oneness. And that's what integrates those disintegrated energies. Because what makes them disintegrated is that they're, they're wrapped in fear.

[00:36:34] They, they... Like, that's what the rejection and the resistance is. On some level we're fearing certain feelings and, and certain energies, and then we reject it, we shroud it in fear, and that actually just fuels it. But the way to integrate those energies and, and reclaim that energy is to neutralize that fear by just fully allowing those feelings to be exactly as they are, because it's all made of the same stuff.

[00:37:06] It's all clay. It's all awareness. It's all isness or oneness, and so it's all totally okay.

[00:37:16] Arlynn: Okay. Boy, that clears up a lot. So it's like, um- Uh, my teaching that I need to learn happens right now, and just living, you know, doing... And, and you know, I mean, I... Like, I know what I'm supposed to be doing every moment- Exactly

[00:37:41] every moment of the day. And- Mm-hmm ...

[00:37:48] Zane: and also when we're living on that level of isness or oneness, just allowing things to be exactly as they are, then the more, the more subtle energetic qualities will start to kind of bubble into perception, and those work on the basis of, like, inspiration and intuition.

[00:38:09] So you'll just find yourself naturally inspired to do something or to talk to someone or to-

[00:38:16] Arlynn: Nice ...

[00:38:16] Zane: watch a video. Like, you'll just

[00:38:20] Arlynn: Oh, yeah. Oh, I see what... Yeah, it's just like, um, like I live, um, I live on a lake, Lake Superior. Mm-hmm. And, uh, and it's like, so I mean, the water's a little bit cold, but I have a hot tub, so it's like cold plunge and, you know, that's- Yeah

[00:38:38] anyway, but so- So it's like, and so I feel like, "Oh, God, I really don't wanna do this. It's too cold," and blah, blah, blah, and I went with my daughter yesterday and we went. And then w- as soon as I got into the water, I went, "Oh, yeah, this feels great." And it's like, like every, every moment of every day you know what you need to be doing, whether it's doing your laundry.

[00:39:04] I know it sounds like a little... You know, it sounds weird. The- Does it sound weird to you? No, it's, it's normal. But- Yeah ... but, but like what you were s- but I think that's what you were saying, is that like, like here I am talking to you, and this is exactly what I'm supposed to be doing even though the room is like looking...

[00:39:22] Everything looks different now for some reason. It's almost like, uh, mescaline, which I took once. Oh. A long time ago, and everything was, you know, like... And that, and even like I started with Singer.

[00:39:39] Zane: Mm-hmm.

[00:39:40] Arlynn: Like Michael Singer.

[00:39:41] Zane: Yeah.

[00:39:41] Arlynn: And I used to... So I live for, uh, about, um, 40, 45 minutes from town, so I would listen to h- to one of his into town, and then I'd come back and listen to the same one.

[00:39:54] I'd go up on my deck where, you know, the beautiful, like it's mountains and water, [00:40:00] and I'd close my eyes, and then I would listen to... I was also doing this mindfulness thing, and there's a mindfulness meditation, you know, where you look at the water and then you listen to the sounds, you know, that kind of thing.

[00:40:13] Zane: Mm-hmm.

[00:40:14] Arlynn: And I swear to God, I opened my eyes, I turned around, and the leaves, it was like the mescaline trip. You know- Mm-hmm. Yeah ... the leaves were like all shiny. I saw it, you know, just, uh, in a way that I never saw before. It's like the light on the leaves were like... Well, you know what I'm talking about.

[00:40:37] Zane: And that's another example of the subtle qualities of experience that begin to emerge the more that we're living from the isness.

[00:40:49] Because the reason that things are looking different now is because throughout this call we've just been being the isness to things exactly as they are, and that's what starts to neutralize and subtleize those kind of denser energies. Because the thing is, the, the things like the beauty and the, the intuition and the inspiration and all of these kind of very heightened mystical qualities, they're actually always there.

[00:41:18] They're always present. We just can't see them if our energy is being clogged up by like seeking energy or like lack energy, like some kind of like dense, heavier energy. When we're sticking to that and we're fighting that, we can't see all the beauty of life. But by just being the isness even to those, they start to neutralize, everything starts to subtleize, and beauty just blossoms.

[00:41:49] Humor just blossoms. All of the magical qualities of life just start to effortlessly emerge. They just start to... Everything becomes more refined and crystal-like and just so beautiful.

[00:42:05] Arlynn: Yes. That, that's happened quite a few times over the years since I started, you know. I mean, I actu- Oh, wow. So... And I'm gonna pa- I wanna pay you for this session, 'cause it's more than 20 minutes, but, um, so but, um, when I was 19 years old, I had a brother that, um, overdosed on heroin, and I was in the house.

[00:42:31] It was traumatic. Um, and then, um, I had to quit school, and my... And I moved on a farm and helped one of my brother's friends. I babysat, basically. I was 19 years old. And I remember that, um, I was like, I used to go on these in one way and out the other. It was in the country. And I, I was getting so happy and joyful But I didn't have a boyfriend.

[00:43:00] My brother died, you know? Yeah. And so when I was listening to, um, I can't remember exactly. Oh, it was Hale. What's his name? He, he's- Hale Dwoskin. Yes. Yeah. So he was talking about where he had a experience with a, a fish or something like that. But anyway, and then one day I was in a canoe. They had this little lake, and I looked at the bottom and I saw it just like I, I mentioned about the trees and the light, and I looked at it and I went, "Wow, what's going on?"

[00:43:30] But I was 19. I had no idea. I went home. I went back to Detroit where I was living, and my fr- and I was telling my friends about this and they, and they said, "Oh, you're ready for, you know, God realization," which is what the lingo was, you know? Yeah. And then I went to the ashram that they were in, and then the rest is history.

[00:43:52] And but then that's... It's also a do- dual... It's a dual path, you know, with all the gurus and all this other stuff. Although some of the songs are non-duality, I have to say. Mm-hmm. 'Cause my husband, who unfortunately passed away about 10 years ago, but he was... He used to write and, um, you know, these incredible, beautiful songs and, and, and then I kind of thought you could, you could tell some of them were, were, you know, dualistic, you know?

[00:44:24] But then some of them had the same language as what I'm reading now, so that's pretty cool. So actually it started when I was 19.

[00:44:34] Zane: Yeah, you were doing the isness back then without even putting words to it.

[00:44:38] Arlynn: Yeah, or effort. The- It was-

[00:44:40] Zane: Yeah ...

[00:44:40] Arlynn: like just- And,

[00:44:42] Zane: and that's what David meant. Like in your pottery, you probably do it all the time.

[00:44:46] Like, we, we think that self-realization is the first time that we access isness, but we're actually, even non-spiritual people, we're coming in and out of it all the times our entire lives. It's just so subtle and simple and ordinary that we never stop to think anything about it. And self-realization is just the first time that you notice that that's the ground of experience.

[00:45:12] Like, that's the... That's what John Wheeler calls the natural state. The isness is our natural state. That's what's always there. And-

[00:45:22] Arlynn: Mm-hmm ...

[00:45:23] Zane: it's always available. It's, it's, it's... That's why it's effortless being. Like, it requires effort to be something other than the isness. Right. But the...

[00:45:33] Arlynn: Yes. Yeah, I hear you.

[00:45:35] Exactly.

[00:45:36] Zane: Yeah.

[00:45:38] Arlynn: Wow. Okay. So where are we now? I mean, I'm here now. So whew. Yeah, so maybe my question is to you, what do you think I need to- I don't know. Yeah, like, I mean, I, I was really like, like, um, like, you know, when I was talking about like a coach or like I could, I could feel that you, you just don't have stuff.

[00:46:11] I mean, you know, I just, I felt your clarity, you know? Like David, you know?

[00:46:16] So I guess I just keep plugging away and, you know, I know that I need to... I wanna learn the language, and- Yeah ... I think that'll really help me. So-

[00:46:28] Zane: Yeah. Well, and I'm... the, the main thing that I would give you, it's like I said, I would just sit and kind of really give yourself credit for the fact that you are fully self-realized.

[00:46:40] And you probably have- Really? Yeah.

[00:46:44] And you don't have to look to anybody outside of yourself, because you

[00:46:49] Arlynn: have- Exactly ...

[00:46:51] Zane: you have the most direct access to this of anyone, which is the isness, which is what you are.

[00:46:59] Like, that's the thing with teachers, is when teachers teach, they're teaching channeling from the isness if they're a good teacher. Yeah. But then we can kind of get in this thing of thinking like, "Oh, well, the teacher knows better than I do." But the whole time, the, the teacher is no more or less isness than us.

[00:47:20] It's all isness the whole way through.

[00:47:22] Arlynn: Exactly. Exactly. So it's like, it's almost like... But I, I... No, a- actually just from, you know, being with David enough that I realize that, um, that there isn't gonna be this big crash, bang, boom, "Oh, I'm awakened." It doesn't work. Yeah. Because like... And, and then listening to John and, you know, the, the lineage, it's like you're just there.

[00:47:52] You know? There i- you're just there. You know, you, you- Yeah ... it's, it's there, and you just have to realize it. You don't have to look. You know, you don't have to look for stuff.

[00:48:00] Zane: Well, and it's like, again, like you, you can have big bangs and booms and amazing things, but that happens by neutralizing all of the contractions and neutralizing all of the blockages-

[00:48:12] Arlynn: What's a contraction?

[00:48:13] All of- See, those, that's another word that I

[00:48:28] You know- So, well- ... like contraction and I, I read, I read it in, in a couple things. I can't remember, but- So, well, so- ... expansion... Is it expansion and contraction?

[00:48:31] Zane: Yeah. Well, so the, the contraction thing can kind of seem a little bit confusing because we're so used to contractions that we tend to not even think about most of the contractions as contractions.

[00:48:46] But basically anything which is below neutrality is a kind of contraction. Like, something like anger, that's a contraction. Or like a feeling of lack, or like a feeling of like, "Oh, I'm missing something," that's a contraction. And the, the reason that they're contractions is because they require energy to maintain.

[00:49:11] It re- like, in the same way that it's like if right now I'm contracting my hand, this requires energy. It requires effort to maintain this. But in order to transform this contraction into expansion, I don't need to, like, contract more or, like, undo the contraction. I just need to neutralize the contraction by just allowing everything to be exactly as it is, and that's when effortlessly it transforms into expansion.

[00:49:41] Arlynn: Yeah, 'cause what does the word contract mean? Like, just

[00:49:47] Zane: contract. And it, it, it means in terms of the energy is being squeezed. It's, it's being, it's being constricted. It, it requires effort. But expansion is effortless. It's [00:50:00] like- Squeezing your hand, that requires effort. But in order to neutralize that contraction- Mm-hmm

[00:50:08] you just allow it to be.

[00:50:10] Arlynn: Okay.

[00:50:10] Zane: You- Do

[00:50:11] Arlynn: you know why I'm laughing? I'm making a huge deal about words.

[00:50:18] Zane: Yeah.

[00:50:19] Arlynn: And then so it's almost like I'm living the definition of all these words that I think I need to look up and write and... But I'm, I feel like I'm actually living them, 'cause then when I hear- Yeah ... the definition, it's like, "Oh, yeah.

[00:50:33] Okay." Yeah. "Yeah, I understand it. I get it."

[00:50:37] Zane: D- so an important factor to be aware of is that the lower mind, it tries to hijack absolutely everything. Like, it, it, and it, it will hijack... It, it tries to hijack every step of the way, and it hijacks our strengths and recognitions of truth. Um, and so I think what's happening with these is the lower mind is, is hijacking to kind of get you infatuated with these definitions and, like, things to keep you busy- Oh

[00:51:09] like all of this.

[00:51:11] Arlynn: Right.

[00:51:13] Zane: It... And it's all, you can see it's all lack-based, 'cause it's basically saying, "There's something I don't understand, so if I get the definition right, then I'll understand." Then... And it's all, that's the circle of, of samsara. That's the, that's the reactive wheel of doubt, confusion, lack, fear, et cetera.

[00:51:34] But the solution to that, again, you don't need to, like, fill in the hole of lack. You don't need more definitions. You just need to be the isness even to that invitation. Even to the, the, the feeling of, "Oh, I don't understand this," you can be the isness even to that. Even that is made of the isness. And that's what will start to dissolve all of these kind of mental programs that are saying, like, "Oh, one more definition, one more practice, one more, like, assessment or something."

[00:52:09] Like, "I just need one more." Yeah. K- like, it's, it's trying to keep you in this state of lack, of just, like, a carrot on a stick. Like, it's just right out of reach. But as long as you're doing things in that way, you're just right where the lower mind wants you. You're just in this perpetual state of lack. But the key is, is being the isness even to the sense of lack.

[00:52:33] Even if there's already a part of you saying, "Oh, I need the definition," you don't have to reject that or try to get rid of it. You can just see that just like the clay squares and the clay circles, that, even that thought is no more or less awareness than anything else. It's all awareness.

[00:52:56] Arlynn: Wow Yeah. So I'm a lot further along than I think I am Is it?

[00:53:07] What?

[00:53:10] Zane: Probably, yeah. I would say so.

[00:53:13] Arlynn: Oh my gosh. Yeah, 'cause it, it's like... Yeah, because it, it's really, it's a journey between me, myself, and I. No, I'm kidding. I mean, I, I don't... I just said that. I don't know what I mean by that. But it's sort of- Well,

[00:53:29] Zane: it, it...

[00:53:30] Arlynn: In term- I keep looking outside and really I got my own-

[00:53:34] Zane: Ex-

[00:53:34] Arlynn: guru in-

[00:53:35] Zane: Well, it, it is a, it is a journey of me, myself, and I, but not me the separate person- Right. ... but me the infinite being- Yeah ... which is me and you and everything like that. Right. And that's self-realization. That's, it's the- Yeah ... me of the capital Self. And it is that. It is all about me, but not like the lower- Yeah

[00:53:57] separate me, the, the infinite- Right ... me. And in that sense- Wow ... I, I think that's really what you meant with that, and that's totally- Yeah ... true. That's- Yeah ... that is what... But I, you can also see, I even notice how as soon as you said that, your lower mind came on with this thing of like, "Oh, no." Uh-huh. "That doesn't sound right."

[00:54:15] That's stupid. You're not, you're not supposed to say me, myself, and I. That sounds egoic. You can see how live on display it was using your own truth against you to get you to doubt yourself- Uh-huh ... to get you to go into a state of lack, and then to plug into that without even noticing that you were doing it.

[00:54:33] Like, and, and, and it's tricky because you were doing it with good intentions. Like, it's, it's using your truth against you. And you can see- That's right ... that's exactly how it works. Yeah. But when that invi- invitation comes up, you just allow it to be exactly as it is from the isness. And then it'll start- Yeah

[00:54:53] Uh, yeah.

[00:54:55] Arlynn: Okay. I s- yeah, 'cause me, myself, and I just meant that I, I, uh, it's time to stop. Uh, you don't need to look outside-

[00:55:03] Zane: Looking out- ... yourself ... exactly ...

[00:55:05] Arlynn: to, um, to live, to live this life. I'm not even gonna say to become self-realized. Okay, I'll accept that.

[00:55:15] Zane: Yeah.

[00:55:15] Arlynn: But, um, yeah, 'cause, 'cause I see that it's there.

[00:55:20] Zane: And, and that's like what David will call, like, the reclaiming of sovereignty. Like, we realize, yeah, we don't need to look to anything external because it's all us. It's all us, the infinite being. And then within that though, you're totally free. You can still watch a video of David or a video of mine or read a book or do whatever.

[00:55:42] Mm-hmm. But the key distinction is you do it on the basis of inspiration and joy and enjoyment rather than, like, lack and missing something and trying to find the answer. 'Cause the more we do that, we're just perpetuating-

[00:56:00] Arlynn: The,

[00:56:00] Zane: the, the very thing which we're trying to resolve.

[00:56:04] Arlynn: That's right. And see, even now because, you know, du- 'cause, you know, I'm a dumb-dumb.

[00:56:10] Yeah. But, you know, so, uh, but I'm watching myself, um, totally getting every single word that we, we've talked about. I get it. Yeah. And then, you know, the dumb-dumb comes in and- And then

[00:56:25] Zane: it, it comes on ... come back And that's okay. Yeah. That'll continue to happen, and it'll happen-

[00:56:31] Arlynn: Yeah. Yes ...

[00:56:32] Zane: it, it's, it's gonna keep happening, but that's okay.

[00:56:35] You just neutralize it by not plugging into it, but also not rejecting it. Just knowing that that too is the isness, that too is the awareness, and that's when the invitations start to get neutralized. And then also the beautiful thing that happens that David describes very well is as the energy that was fueling those invitations, as that energy gets neutralized, it goes back into alignment with your infinite nature, and your infinite self, your higher self, will automatically use that energy to make your life better.

[00:57:12] You'll start to have new synchronicities come in, new intuitions, new unfoldments. Like, because that's what just happens on its own. That's how, that's how life is supposed to be. Yeah. The only thing that prevents that from happening is we get stuck in these neurotic loops. We get stuck in these, like, these thought patterns, and we keep- Yeah

[00:57:35] feeding them. But the more that we just neutralize those tendencies, the energy will get reclaimed, and then effortlessly, we don't even have to think about it, that energy will just start supporting and enhancing us.

[00:57:50] Arlynn: Okay. So I have... What you're talking about, I've... Now I, I, I'm thinking about things that have happened throughout the day.

[00:58:01] Just, um, like, uh- Yeah, experiencing that ... just

[00:58:08] Zane: little synchronicities

[00:58:10] Arlynn: and, and things- That's right, yeah ...

[00:58:11] Zane: and guidance. Yeah ... little c- like, yeah, like, uh,

[00:58:15] Arlynn: it, it, it ha- And, and I, and I feel dou- it's like a triple joy instead of just- Yeah ... you know, if people... 'Cause, you know, people get happy with lots of things, but it's like a triple joy when that happens because while I'm do- even, you know, like I was blocking on, you know, getting my...

[00:58:33] I had to get my... I had to reclaim my clay, you know, in order- Mm ... I'm in my studio now, by the way. But, um, I had to reclaim my clay, and I've been blocking on it and blocking on it. And my d- I said, I said to my daughter, "Maybe you could help me, because I'm really blocked on this." And she says, "Okay, Mom, you know, let's go get your clay wet," you know, and stuff like that.

[00:58:53] So, um, so we were doing it together, and I was just this incredible triple joy was going through me because I was reclaiming, 'cause I was making the s- the steps to, uh, so I could get back on the wheel and start making work again. Yeah. And that's when I noticed, like, wait a second, you know, you're, you know.

[00:59:17] Um, and I, and I- It's all

[00:59:18] Zane: just happening kind of. Yeah, you're doing this, you were making the circle. Yeah.

[00:59:23] Arlynn: Yeah. Yeah, it was like, yeah. It, it... So that's what it felt like, was like triple joy. 'Cause it was like, yeah, I'm getting started, but then there was, yeah, when you get through those. Anyway, whoo. So where are we?

[00:59:40] I don't know.

[00:59:42] Zane: Well, we're fully self-realized, and we understand the energetic component of things, which is how to neutralize lower kind of resistant or fear-based energies, which is just [01:00:00] allowing them to be exactly as they are from the isness

[01:00:05] Arlynn: Yeah, that's what, um, like when I was... Yeah, like, um, because sometimes, you know, like I'll listen to the news or I'll play too many games, and, you know, his reaction to that was, um, you know, David, that was my, my question.

[01:00:22] He said, "First of all, don't, you know, don't feel bad about it." Mm-hmm. "Just don't do it all the time." But just, you know, so you're doing it, but don't, you know, it's, it's not... Yeah, so don't beat yourself up kind of thing. You know, just-

[01:00:38] Zane: E- exactly, because that, the lower mind, it loves to ge- to bait us into one kind of lower frequency activity, and then it loves to like double onto that by getting ourselves to beat up, beat ourselves up for doing the activity.

[01:00:55] Instead of just enjoy it. That's just more... Yeah. Y- yeah, you may as well just enjoy it. Yes. And

[01:01:00] then,

[01:01:00] and then that's when you actually are able... Say it is some type of slight addiction or something, that's when you're actually able to step out of that pattern and move on from it. Whereas like a lot of people, they try to quit addictions on the basis of like suppression, shame- Makes it worse

[01:01:18] forcing. It, it does. Even if they quit the addiction, they just end up replacing it with another addiction. It's like they quit alcohol, but then they're addicted to- And some people will get addicted to fitness or something. They'll work out so much that it hurts their health. Like, we can get addicted to- Yeah

[01:01:35] to really anything. That are- Anything …

[01:01:37] Arlynn: with negative, um, outcomes

[01:01:40] Zane: Energies, yeah. Negative. We're, we're coming at it from a place of lack and fear and seeking, so it just gives us those same results. Right. But the more that we do things on the basis of inspiration... I like how you said that you kind of got that, like, 300% joy, 'cause that's exactly what it is.

[01:01:58] It's like we, we can fully, fully enjoy the inspiration and the joy and the love, and we actually enjoy it so much more when we're not attached to it. Because that's another hijacking the lower mind will do, is we'll start to have a lot of joy, and then the lower mind will try to get us to, like, latch onto it, to try to, like, hold it into place, but that itself is, like, fear and lack-based.

[01:02:25] So it actually just makes it go away. It's like the more we a- if we- Right ... become attached to the positivity, we actually stifle it. But the key is, is like, it's like full engagement, full inspiration, full joy- Mm-hmm ... with zero attachment. Yes. That's the most powerful position.

[01:02:46] Arlynn: Right. Like, so, like, I'm gonna go do my laundry today, and it just feels so joyful just thinking about it.

[01:02:57] And I'm gonna go dunk in the lake and go in my hot tub, and it's like the whole, your whole, your whole life, your whole day can be joyful.

[01:03:06] Zane: Exactly.

[01:03:07] Arlynn: Like, yeah, I get it. Wow. All right. I feel like, you know, 'cause, um, you know, I was thinking, "Oh, if only I could have a, um, you know, be one of those people that are awakened with David."

[01:03:22] But-

[01:03:23] Zane: And here you

[01:03:24] Arlynn: are ...

[01:03:24] Zane: I,

[01:03:25] Arlynn: and here I am. And also I feel like, um, you know, just from... There was just something I felt it was your- Just, uh, you know, your aura or, I don't know. There's just something about you that I just feel like, yes, you are definitely self-realized. But not only that, but you- you've got the language and you live it.

[01:03:50] You know, I don't know what your days look like, but probably, I mean, you know, you ju- uh, your energy shows me that you really live it, that there's, you know, that I could trust you a thou- 1000% with this. With

[01:04:09] Zane: this. W- W- Well, I, I really appreciate that. And, and that just shows, too, how much in touch you are with the intuition without even maybe necessarily realizing it.

[01:04:19] Like, that's- Yeah ... intuition the whole way- Yeah ... through. That's what led you here. And look at how fruitful this call was. Like, intuition led you the whole way, and you can see live on display how it works. It really works.

[01:04:33] Arlynn: Yeah, it was intuition. You know, it was like, "Oh, you know what? I need to..." You know, 'cause my, my original thing was I wanted, you know, to meet with you, like maybe, you know- W-

[01:04:43] a couple times a month and you

[01:04:46] Zane: know. W- And you, you can also see how the intuition is prime target for hijacking. The lower mind will try to blend in as much fear and resistance into the intuition. So there may be a genuine intuition of like, "Oh, this would be a great call," and then the lower mind senses that.

[01:05:04] It's like a red alarm goes off in the lower mind. It's like ding, ding, ding, and then it starts sending all the invitations it can to try to distort things, pull in resistance and fear and confusion. It's gonna try to muddy up the intuition as much as possible.

[01:05:21] Arlynn: Yes.

[01:05:22] Zane: But that can all be- Yeah ... neutralized.

[01:05:24] Yeah. That can all be-

[01:05:26] Arlynn: Right, 'cause this was definitely intuition, you know? Yeah. Like, like I wanted... Yeah. It's an ongoing, it's an ongoing process. It's not like you're self- Yeah ... realized and then everything is hunky dory.

[01:05:40] Zane: Exactly.

[01:05:41] That, that's the- Yeah ... that's the freedom is, like, it, it, we can integrate every direction and we can enjoy all of it. Like, we don't have to get stuck in this thing of thinking like, "Oh, well, I only like to be in charge, but I don't like to follow," or, "I only like to follow, but I don't like to be in charge."

[01:05:59] There's actually beauty and fun in both. It's, it's-

[01:06:02] Arlynn: Yeah, exactly. Yeah. Yeah. And, um, and it was definitely needed because, you know, 'cause we, you know, because the thing the... A- and that was actually when you wrote that, I realized, I, I was thinking about it and I went, you know, be- because, oh, 'cause it was me.

[01:06:21] You wrote it to me. No.

[01:06:23] Zane: Yeah, yeah,

[01:06:23] Arlynn: yeah. You're the one that wrote, wrote that thing about... Oh, I put a thing up with, uh, Nis- I can never pronounce his name. Nisargadatta. Yeah. Yeah. Which is, you know, I mean, it, you know, like, 'cause he helps me, too. Mm-hmm. His, his teachings, um, I feel are on the, on that level. Or, I don't know.

[01:06:43] Yeah,

[01:06:43] Zane: yeah.

[01:06:44] Arlynn: He helps me. Like, he's... And then I, but then I, but it made me realize when you, when you wrote that about David, oh, of course. We should only have David's stuff. And then it, and then it made me realize that, um- Uh, there's a reason because you, you, you know, it's... Well, anyway, is that it's bad to... I mean, it's not a great idea to, um, you know, to go outside of the- W-

[01:07:15] Zane: we...

[01:07:15] It's kind of we can spend eternity- Too much ... peaking down rabbit holes. Like we- Yes ... can spend eternity like-

[01:07:21] Arlynn: That's right …

[01:07:22] Zane: yeah. And it's, and that's, like, prime strategy for the lower mind. It's, like, kind of exactly like with the definitions thing. The lower mind will hijack everything, and it loves to send us down these rabbit holes and to, like, put us on pointless missions, basically.

[01:07:39] Like, put us on this- Yeah ... mission of, like, debating something or trying to-

[01:07:45] Arlynn: Yeah ...

[01:07:45] Zane: all of it, it, it's not fruitful, and it gives you the inverse results of what you think it will. Like, when you're in the fear, you think that'll make things better, but it actually makes things worse. But the more- Yeah ... you just be the isness, you're not even trying to make things better, but that's what makes everything better.

[01:08:03] That's the-

[01:08:04] Arlynn: Right. Exactly. And th- that's why, um, you know, when I came to the absolute realization that David's it and that that's all you need. That's, you know, that's- Yeah ... when I wrote that. You know, even though, I mean, the other guys are, you know, they have... You know what it is? It's like when I listen to David, it's like, it's like the whole thing.

[01:08:29] When I listen to these other things, even, um, Rupert Spira, I realize that- He has all these jargon and, and words, but, ah, they're so hard to, to... You know. And then there was a few sentences that he said that, "Oh, yeah, yeah, that's..."

[01:08:49] You know, 'cause I used to listen to Spira in my car.

[01:08:52] Zane: Yeah.

[01:08:52] Arlynn: You know? Yeah. And, you know, like, 'cause he had a lot of... And, and I would listen to it, but it just didn't go anywhere. I can't explain it. Yeah. You know what I mean? Well, you know, you- No,

[01:09:02] Zane: what-

[01:09:03] Arlynn: You, you, you were saying that you s- like started with him a long ti- I guess.

[01:09:08] Zane: Y- yeah. Well, I, yeah, I've listened to literally hundreds of hours of Rupert, and I went through several months where when I... W- b- now I don't do this, 'cause I know it's all the is-ness, and I don't really need to, and I found David. But I- Yeah ... when I would find a new teacher, I would listen to them minimum eight hours, sometimes, like, 12 hours, sometimes while I'm sleeping.

[01:09:30] Like, all day, every day- Same ... I'm just listening to them.

[01:09:33] Arlynn: Yeah.

[01:09:33] Zane: I'm soaking up everything. I'm trying to map it out. Like, I'm, I'm similar with, like, the definitions and the logic. Yeah. Like, I get it.

[01:09:40] Arlynn: Wow. And, but the- Yeah, yeah ...

[01:09:42] Zane: but the key is, like, what is, what, what has given me this kind of very clear, like, logical framework in understanding these definitions, it never came through studying it.

[01:09:53] The more I studied it, the more jumbled up everything got. It, it, it, it- A bit. It, it, [01:10:00] it came by just being the is-ness to what is. Mm-hmm. And then that's what neutralizes all of these kind of distortions in your mental field, in your thoughts, and your mental structure, and then what remains is clarity. Like, clarity doesn't have to be built.

[01:10:17] Clarity is what remains when we dissolve the blockages.

[01:10:21] Arlynn: Yes. I h- yeah. Exactly. And it's like, and that's what w- like John Wheeler, when he said You know, he just... When you talk to, um, Sailor Bob, it was like, oh, he just turned him around and pointed him back to himself. Yeah. The pointer is, you

[01:10:39] Zane: know. Yeah.

[01:10:40] Arlynn: Instead of to Rupert you know, and all the, all, uh, all the jargon. It be- So all these things that I was listening to and hanging on every word became jargon.

[01:10:51] Zane: Exactly. And it's-

[01:10:52] Arlynn: I couldn't take it. Well, no. See my mind. But anyway, yeah. That's what it was like. It was like, wait a second. There, you know... But and then, oh my God, I don't know if you...

[01:11:04] John Wheeler had this three-part, um, uh, thing with, um... It was at a place, Pine Croft or something, selling all these lectures. And he said, "Well, I really don't wanna be here, you know, um, 'cause, you know, you guys, you know, you guys can do this, you know." Anyway, and so- Yeah ... he was talking about, you know, the teachers that, you know, make a lot of money and...

[01:11:28] I don't know if you've heard. This is John Wheeler talking to a group. Y- yeah,

[01:11:31] Zane: yeah. Yeah, I don't think I've heard this one. That really you can do that. Pardon? Yeah. I don't think I've heard this one, but yeah. Yeah. I'm with you. Yeah.

[01:11:38] Arlynn: Yeah. So you know, and they're making lots of money, and they're selling their books, and they're, you know...

[01:11:43] And I'm on it. So that's the whole thing is that these, all these teachers, you know, it's like...

[01:11:50] Yeah. No, I, I think, yeah, like I mentioned before, I think I, I understand now about- uh, teachers and why I'm just so s- you know, like David, he's the man.

[01:12:05] Zane: He is. He, he's absolutely the man. No, I

[01:12:08] Arlynn: think he's the real deal.

[01:12:10] Zane: But the, the thing that I would caution you on is to be careful- Yes ... not to f- like pedestalize David, 'cause there can be a tendency of kind of like...

[01:12:19] And, but and the thing is, trust me, I am the biggest David fan. Yeah. When I, when I, when I got my YouTube recap back, it tells you, like, your most listened to people. It, I was in David's top 0.01% of listeners- ... and I had over, I had, I had over 930- Nobody

[01:12:40] Arlynn: listened to your... Wait, you mean nobody listened to your self-realization thing or your, your

[01:12:46] Zane: Y- No, I, I, I was in the top 0.01% of listeners of David's channel.

[01:12:53] So every single person that listens to David, it, YouTube keeps track of that, and then it sends a thing out to the people who have listened to him the most. Oh. And I was in the, I was in the top 0.01% of li- Of listen- w- and it said I had listened to 937 videos of his. He doesn't even have 900 videos, but it's 'cause I had re-watched them so many times.

[01:13:20] Oh.

[01:13:20] Arlynn: Oh, you were the top listener.

[01:13:22] Zane: Yeah, I w- yeah.

[01:13:23] Arlynn: Oh.

[01:13:25] Zane: But I, I say that to say that, trust me, I am like the biggest David fan. Right. Like, I'm with you 100%. Yeah. But at the same time, the lower mind will try to hijack even that. It will try to pedestalize David- Right ... build this hierarchy of like, David's the king, all these other teachers are beneath him.

[01:13:44] Yeah. And like, but the- Yeah ... the, the way that I would describe it now- Doesn't

[01:13:48] Arlynn: work that way ...

[01:13:49] Zane: yeah, and the, the way I would describe it is you can have full discernment with zero judgment. Like, you can have the full discernment to see how special David is without it getting hijacked into judgment of like, oh, these other teachers stink, or something like.

[01:14:07] And- Yeah ... and you can see how even with the other teachers, they're just getting tricked by their lower mind too. So it doesn't really make any sense to like villainize them or anything. Like, they're just- Right ... as much of a victim as their students, or of anyone else. Like, we're, we've all fallen victim- Yeah

[01:14:25] to- Yeah ... to lower mind stuff. And, and that's how we transmute it in others too. Like, the lower mind loves when we try to fight other people's lower mind, 'cause it's like lower mind on lower mind. But the way- Yeah ... to neutralize blockages in other people isn't by trying to change them or rejecting them or resisting them.

[01:14:48] It's by the same way we neutralize the blockages within ourself, it's by just fully, fully allowing that person to be exactly as they are. Because even their blockages, even their patterns are also the isness. It's all the isness. And the more that we can see that and just allow them to be exactly as they are- It's beautiful 'cause we no longer even care if they change, but that's actually when they do start to change.

[01:15:17] That's when they do start to open up and we see... We may have a conversation with someone, and suddenly they say something new or they bring up for the first time they're actually interested in the spiritual stuff. Whereas before, when we're trying to get them interested, it just repels them. But from the isness, we're not trying to make anything happen.

[01:15:39] We're just totally okay with ourselves and everyone else exactly as they are, but that's what opens up the higher things. That's what opens up the- Yeah ... the, the, the intuition- Right ... and the insights and all of that amazing stuff.

[01:15:56] Arlynn: Yeah. So we all have to start somewhere.

[01:15:58] Zane: Yeah, yeah.

[01:16:00] Arlynn: No, and I, and I, and I, I...

[01:16:03] Yeah, so, um, I mean, like, I'm still going.

[01:16:08] Zane: It's never-ending too. That's what I like that David says. There's no landing. It's a never-ending unfoldment, expansion, integration with no upper limits. You can take this anywhere, and w- by the nature of our infinite nature, we are limitless. We can do anything with this.

[01:16:28] Arlynn: Yeah. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, so, you know, and, and I'm sure that he... You know, these guys help people, you know?

[01:16:37] Zane: Y- yeah, well, and exactly. It's

[01:16:39] Arlynn: still- And I- Even if- That's why I don't like judging anybody, unless they're obviously, you know, like, detrimental. But yeah. But these- It- The guys, you know, like Rupert and all these other guys.

[01:16:51] I mean, look at I s- look at all the stuff that happened with me just with Michael Singer, you know? Yeah. And, and-

[01:17:00] Zane: And it leads us too. Like, I, I, I may have never found David if I hadn't been on the train of Rupert and then Francis and then this and then this. Like, sometimes those are the stepping stones to, to something else.

[01:17:13] So it's all- Yeah ... and it's all isness the whole way through. So it's all- Yes ... it's all-

[01:17:18] Arlynn: Yeah, for sure ... guidance. Yeah, and I, I... And that's the whole thing with, um, you know, like, like listening to David and then doing the lineage with, um, John and, you know, Wheeler and these other guys, is that, um, that, uh... You know, I...

[01:17:35] And I see David as, um, he's very humble, and I don't put him on a pedestal because that's not, that's not what he's teaching.

[01:17:46] Zane: Exactly.

[01:17:47] Arlynn: You

[01:17:47] Zane: know what I

[01:17:48] Arlynn: mean? Like, he- But in a

[01:17:48] Zane: weird way, that's what makes you want to put him on a pedestal. I

[01:17:52] Arlynn: know.

[01:17:56] Yes. Exactly. '

[01:17:57] Zane: Cause you know that he wouldn't abuse it, but, like, uh, yeah, that's-

[01:18:01] Arlynn: No, but it's- Yeah ... it's, um... So instead of a pedestal, it's like, "Oh my God, I'm so lucky to, you know, have him with all of these wonderful teachings." You know? And just- It's like... Because he, he makes you feel like you're... Well, you're his equal because the essence of, you know, like David and John and these guys is that, um, we're all, we're all oneness.

[01:18:27] You know, because, like, it's just like with, um, um, Nisargadatta. I, ugh. Anyway. Yeah. You know, his whole thing is, you know, first you, you know, you use the mantra, "I am that," and then it's just, "I am," and then "I am" disappears, and that's who we are. Yeah. So it's like... You know? And so, um, so it's all inside of us, so we're not looking outside anymore.

[01:18:58] Does that... You know what

[01:18:59] Zane: I mean? Exa- Yeah. Well, and you can see how even with Nisargadatta, his whole thing, like, "Abide as the I am," or, "I am that," that's just another word for isness. That's... And that, that's the whole practice is just abide as the I am. It's just another way of saying be the isness to what arises, and that's the final practice, and that's the whole thing.

[01:19:24] That's, that's self-realization and an un- and energetic transformation all in one. Because the self-realization is realizing that everything is the isness, no matter what the energy is, but then the way that you get to better and better energy is by neutralizing all of the lower energies as the isness.

[01:19:47] Arlynn: Wow. Yep. So it sounds like I've been really understanding quite a bit

[01:19:56] Zane: Just a few little invitations from the lower mind [01:20:00] just-

[01:20:00] Arlynn: And I believe you. Remember, like my intuition is that, boy, I really trust Zane. You know? Yeah. That's why I wouldn't have, you know, like asked for a, a call. Yeah.

[01:20:10] You

[01:20:10] know? And but there's just something about you that I knew that, you know, first of all, that you are self-realized and that, um...

[01:20:20] And somebody that I could talk to, you know. Those two things. Yeah. And so- Amazing So yeah. So I guess we won't have another meeting with, with my, um My vocabulary list.

[01:20:39] Zane: Well- You know ... I'm al- I'm always happy to do more, but you probably n- need much less than what your mind was telling you. Like, you really, as you saw, you t- technically don't need anything because you...

[01:20:51] It's like, like you said, it's all me, myself, and I. Like, even me right now- ... I am the isness telling you that you're the isness as the isness. It's all isness. Everywhere we go- Yeah ... we're swimming in isness. And that- Yeah ... that's the, that's the final teaching. That- Right ... that's... Yeah.

[01:21:12] Arlynn: And then it's your mind that, that keeps, um, pulling you back into, uh, you don't get it, you're whatever.

[01:21:19] You know, just the old programs, you know?

[01:21:22] Zane: Exa- And it just does that because that's just what it thinks is the right thing to do. It just doesn't, it doesn't understand the isness, so it, like, inherently doesn't trust it. But that's totally okay. We just neutralize those tendencies. They come up, doubt comes up.

[01:21:38] We may even fall for it for a little bit. Sometimes we'll plug into it, and then we kind of catch ourselves, like, "Oh, wait. I don't have to do this. I can just be the isness again." And you just allow that doubt to be exactly as it is.

[01:21:53] Arlynn: I, would it- And

[01:21:54] Zane: then cert-

[01:21:54] Arlynn: Okay. You're gonna kill me for saying this. Would it...

[01:21:58] But I... What is, exactly is isness? Is, like, is that, like, another word for awareness or-

[01:22:04] Zane: Y- yeah ...

[01:22:05] Arlynn: we talked about that back-

[01:22:06] Zane: It's just, it's just another word for awareness, but the reason that I like the word isness over awareness is a lot of people with the word awareness, they get stuck in this thing of thinking like awareness is the observer, and awareness is, like, back here.

[01:22:23] But then there's, like, the forms which are different. And, like, I'm trying to be the observer, but I'm trying not to be the forms. Mm-hmm. But that's not what it is. Because for one, that's still separation, because there would be, like, the observer and the observed. But what it actually is is knowing everything is made of the awareness.

[01:22:45] It's not like the awareness is over here and the objects are over there. In the same way, like, if you had a clay circle, it's not like the clay is here and the circle is there. The circle is made of clay. The clay is, like, the- Right. Okay ... infinite transcendent substance. And that's how all of these kind of lines that teachers use to describe non-duality, they all start to make sense when you look at it like this.

[01:23:14] Like, and a common one is when they say, like, it's all illusion. The lower mind will try to hijack that and say, like, "Oh, well, it's all illusion, so I should just put, like, put my head in the sand and, like, disappear or something." But that's not what it's all illusion means. What it's all illusion means is it's saying in the sense that, like- If you had a clay circle, you could say in a way the circle is an illusion because it's all clay.

[01:23:43] The circle is like a temporary form. Mm-hmm. It's not truly a circle, it's truly just clay, and that's what that line comes from.

[01:23:53] Arlynn: Wow. Okay. That made sense. I got it.

[01:24:01] Wow. Oh, I'm gonna have a good day today. Beautiful. Where, where do you live?

[01:24:07] Zane: I am in Ohio. I'm in Southern Ohio.

[01:24:10] Arlynn: Oh, okay. Yeah.

[01:24:11] Zane: Yeah. Where are you at?

[01:24:14] Arlynn: Canada.

[01:24:15] Zane: Oh, okay. Cool.

[01:24:16] Arlynn: Yeah, I'm outside of, um, uh, Thunder Bay. Nice. So I live on a, like on a five-acre property where my studio and... And if you ever wanna retreat-

[01:24:31] Zane: Mm-hmm

[01:24:33] Arlynn: this is- Oh ... I ch- we chose this place Because as soon, like, as soon as we walked on, we could feel, like, the spiritual energy coming from the mountains and the water. Mm-hmm. You know how places do that? Well, that was- Yeah ... it for us. Like, everybody that lives here, they don't know it, but that's, you know. And I have- Yeah

[01:24:54] an Israeli family-

[01:24:56] Zane: Mm ...

[01:24:56] Arlynn: uh, that, uh, came here to visit. This was quite a few years ago. They have seven, seven kids. And the main... the master bedroom upstairs has a balcony, and they came in when it was pitch black, you know, 'cause of the time change. Mm-hmm. And, and they do their, you know, their, um, uh, very religious, you know, their, um, ultra-Orthodox- Ri-

[01:25:24] Zane: rituals and, like, practices and things.

[01:25:26] Yeah. Yes. Yeah.

[01:25:27] Arlynn: But the energy is still there, you know. They have beautiful- Yeah,

[01:25:30] Zane: yeah ...

[01:25:30] Arlynn: So he, so in the morning he walked out on the balcony to do his morning rituals- Mm-hmm ... and he opened his eyes, and he started crying.

[01:25:40] Zane: Mm.

[01:25:40] Arlynn: He could just feel, you know, and they've been coming back as much as possible, especially, you know.

[01:25:48] But so it's a very special place, you know, for- Oh ... you know, for doing what I'm doing. And I remember, 'cause now I kinda live alone except when my, my daughter's with me. But, and he, you know, and it's, it's a little bit isolated, you know? Like, I mean, there's like- Mm-hmm ... everybody lives within five minutes.

[01:26:07] They have, you know, 'cause everybody's houses are on the lake. And, um, so I remember one of the things David said, he was talking to s- a woman, and, um, he said, "Do you live alone?" And he said, "Yeah." And he said, "Actually, that's better," like, for-

[01:26:26] Zane: Yeah, uh, yeah ...

[01:26:28] Arlynn: like, you know, for-

[01:26:30] Zane: I- integration, yeah, for-

[01:26:32] Arlynn: Integration,

[01:26:33] Zane: yeah

[01:26:33] stabilizing, yeah.

[01:26:34] Arlynn: Yeah. So I, I, I remembered that. But still, so, um, yeah, so it's, you know, I'm so blessed. I mean, it's just, I guess, you know, I draw good things to myself, I guess. But

[01:26:48] Zane: anyway. It, what... And that's just a testament of maybe how much farther along you are than you give yourself credit for. '

[01:26:54] Arlynn: Cause- And that I've been, and that I have, uh, my whole life, even-

[01:27:00] Zane: Exactly

[01:27:01] Arlynn: having a brother, you know, watching my brother- Yeah ... you know, OD on heroin.

[01:27:06] Zane: Yeah. Even- You know, all these things ... even then, it, like you described, you intuitively just went into that space, and you had a beautiful experience of it. And that's- And it's funny 'cause that's really the most loving thing that we can do for our loved ones.

[01:27:23] Like, the lower mind will tell us that we need to get all upset and grieve and... But for one, our loved ones wouldn't want that, and for two, it doesn't help anything. Like, what our loved ones would want is for us to, to be in this very light, expansive, like, beautiful energy. Mm-hmm. And that's the most... It's like a win-win.

[01:27:42] It's like the, the... It feels better for us, and it's the greatest gift that we can give everyone- Exactly ... 'cause we're embodying that. We're... Yeah.

[01:27:50] Arlynn: Yes. No, exactly.

[01:27:52] Zane: And the more we operate from there, that's when people change without us even trying to make them change.

[01:27:59] Arlynn: I know. Exactly. '

[01:28:00] Zane: Cause the more that we try, that itself is lack-based, so it just, it just makes things worse.

[01:28:07] It, it just perpetuates the problem. It... The way I imagine it is, like, when we talk to someone from our lower mind, it only ever hits their lower mind. It never hits, like, their higher self. So that's when you just get, like, the lower mind on lower mind arguments and things. But when we're just in this higher space, we're just operating from the isness, from inspiration, that's when we're not even trying to make things better, but you'll just find yourself saying things, doing things, handling things differently, and that'll impact everybody.

[01:28:40] That'll impact everything and everyone.

[01:28:44] Arlynn: Mm-hmm.

[01:28:44] Zane: And it's a win-win 'cause it feels, it feels much better than trying to convince people. Exactly. Yeah.

[01:28:51] Arlynn: Yeah.

[01:28:51] Zane: And

[01:28:52] Arlynn: yeah. And also, um... No, I can see that 'cause, um, the last... uh, just the last few weeks I've been changing how... You know, 'cause it's hard.

[01:29:02] Zane: Yeah, exact- Like...

[01:29:03] Yeah.

[01:29:04] Arlynn: But, but I just, you know, like, I, I just, I just am who I am.

[01:29:10] Zane: Exactly.

[01:29:11] Arlynn: For sure.

[01:29:12] So anyway. Okay. Well, uh, now it's, uh, 2:40. Oh, my God. Is our 20 minutes up?

[01:29:24] Wow. Whoa. This is invaluable. I mean, it just... You know, it was like, yeah. It's, um, pretty incredible.

[01:29:37] Ooh, I can't seem to get up I'm like, yeah, I look around and I'm w- I'm with all my, my babies, you know, my, uh, my pagodas. Mm-hmm. Looking at them and yeah, and even like I was, I was telling, um, you know, when, when I was [01:30:00] asking the question to, um, you know, I can feel like there's this incredible energy that comes through me when I'm making the work.

[01:30:14] It's like my hands are on fire.

[01:30:16] Zane: Yeah.

[01:30:17] Arlynn: And then I read or I listened to one of the things about he, he was also ... He did portrait painting or something.

[01:30:24] Zane: Mm-hmm.

[01:30:25] Arlynn: And he had the same experience, you know? Like, 'cause ... And then this is interesting 'cause so one of my classes, uh, we were ... It was, um, uh, in the early like the nine- e- late 18th centuries, you know, it was one of those, and it was, um, like, um, a guy that, uh, did, you know, he um, he was a, um, I guess he, you know, like he would critique people's work and you know all that stuff, and he's

[01:30:56] And I, and I read this and you know, and it said, "If you think for one minute that you're making this work, that's not, you're not." Y- yeah. "And

[01:31:08] Zane: it's

[01:31:09] Arlynn: the divine that's making it through you."

[01:31:11] Zane: Yeah.

[01:31:12] Arlynn: And when I read that, 'cause I, 'cause all, you know, I, 'cause you know I was still on a spiritual path and, um, but I would never

[01:31:19] So a lot of, so my, you know, it's like my pagodas and my work is, you know, um, I can feel ... Like one guy came up to me, and this is in my 20s, and he hugged my bowl and he said- Mm ... "Do you meditate?" And I said, "Yeah. Why?" And he said, "'Cause I can feel it in your bowl."

[01:31:40] Zane: Oh, wow.

[01:31:40] Arlynn: That's beautiful. So it was like Yeah.

[01:31:41] You know, so it's like, um, but, but when I was in school I wouldn't talk about spirituality.

[01:31:49] Zane: Yeah.

[01:31:50] Arlynn: Like, I wouldn't wanna freak- I didn't want people think I was freaky. But then when I went to like, you know, higher education and these kids were, um, you know, lining up bricks and having a, like a, a 14 page explanation of how it's art and s- you know, just

[01:32:11] Or you know, lining up beer cans. Yeah, yeah. And saying, "Oh yeah, that's my sculpture, and this is what I'm handing in for my work," and I thought, "Well, if these guys are doing that, I'm gonna start talking about my spirituality in my work."

[01:32:26] If

[01:32:27] they wanna ... So that wa- that was kind of funny. But Anyway, so yeah Amazing.

[01:32:38] Zane: It's been beautiful.

[01:32:39] Arlynn: Oh my God. Did you enjoy it too? I mean, I'm like, like I can't, I can't even get up right now. Mm-hmm. I mean, I'm just... Like I said, it's like the room is like, just looks different. I feel like I'm in a different room. Does that make sense? And...

[01:32:58] Zane: Well, no, it's... And it's just because your energy started to subtleize the more that we were being with everything as the isness.

[01:33:06] And I would just say, like the last thing I would say is don't allow your lower mind, 'cause o- once this call is over, your lower mind will probably try to pull something like, "Oh, like that all happened because of Zane, and so like you need Zane," or something like, or like it'll try to hit you with an invitation.

[01:33:24] The beauty will go away, and then it'll be like, "See, you just need one more definition," or something. Or you just need- Like, it, it'll, it'll play on your truth, it'll play on your strengths to try to redirect you. But when that comes up, you just know it's all the isness. Like we didn't get to this beautiful space by trying to get to this beautiful space.

[01:33:46] We got to this beautiful space by even allowing the not so beautiful space to be exactly as it is, 'cause it's all the isness. It's all that. And then naturally and effortlessly more beauty comes, more love comes, more inspiration and intuition. And just like you, we talked about, you've been doing this your whole life without even really fully- Yeah

[01:34:12] thinking about the process. But it's- Right ... it's, it's incredibly simple and easy. It's just being the isness to what is. Yeah.

[01:34:22] Arlynn: And

[01:34:22] Zane: that's, that's the final practice. That's... Yeah.

[01:34:27] Arlynn: Right. And you know, and I remember I was reading something. Somebody asked you, I think it must have been on, on, on WhatsApp. Mm-hmm.

[01:34:36] Somebody asked you if you were self-realized, and you, you said, "Yep, 24/7."

[01:34:43] Zane: Yeah. Yeah. Remember that? Yeah.

[01:34:46] Arlynn: Did I read that or did you- No.

[01:34:48] Zane: Yeah, I

[01:34:48] Arlynn: did.

[01:34:48] Zane: Yeah. Yeah. That's- Yeah ... and, and because really the, the thing you start to realize is that- Because everyone's always the isness, you technically always are self-realized.

[01:35:03] Everyone is self-realized. It's just, it's like I said, you are self-realization. Having a thought which is made of self, of self-realization, telling you you're not self-realized and that you need to become self-realized. Meanwhile, it's all, it's all the Self. It's all-

[01:35:22] Arlynn: Yeah ...

[01:35:23] Zane: the isness or the infinite self. Right.

[01:35:24] It's all-

[01:35:25] Arlynn: Yeah ...

[01:35:25] Zane: that. And-

[01:35:26] Arlynn: No, I really... Yeah, I really get it now. Yeah. So now when I pick up Effortless Being, I'll just read it. I won't have to take notes. I'll just read it and have a fun read.

[01:35:39] Zane: It-

[01:35:40] Arlynn: You know what I mean? And, and just let it... I mean, 'cause it's already here.

[01:35:45] Zane: It's all within you. Yeah, it's all...

[01:35:47] David's got the same source as you do, which is the isness. Y- you don't, you don't have to get it third party or, or from a middleman. You can go straight to the wholesaler, which is what you are. You can go straight to the-

[01:36:01] Arlynn: Yeah …

[01:36:01] Zane: the man himself, which is the infinite being. That is source. That's why it's source, 'cause it's the source of all.

[01:36:09] Right. That's all there ever is, is, is oneness or isness or... Yeah.

[01:36:14] Arlynn: Boy, that is amazing. I get it.

[01:36:19] Zane: Perfect.

[01:36:20] Arlynn: Yeah.

[01:36:21] Zane: Amazing.

[01:36:21] Arlynn: So, yeah. So I definitely will not let it, um- Yeah, my mind is, uh, whatever. Yeah. No, it's... And, and then, and you'll give me this recording, 'cause th- this is amazing. Yeah. I'm gonna wanna listen- Yeah

[01:36:39] 'cause I always- Yeah, also- It's not like listening to, like, you know, the guys- No ... call them the guys. You know- Yeah ... the, um... Yeah. So-

[01:36:50] Zane: It's good to re-listen to them. I, y- I, I'll... Even to this day, every once in a while I'll re-listen to my call with David. Like, we always can circle back and see deeper things and see...

[01:37:02] And it's nice just as a reminder, just as... 'Cause the lower mind, it's like I said, it can try to hijack everything. It may try to take a hijacking of like, "Oh, no, you're not allowed to watch David or Zane because you shouldn't do that, because then you're not being the isness." Like, it'll try to put conditions on everything.

[01:37:21] Yeah. Right. But the whole thing is if it feels inspiring and intuitively right, you can just do it. You can just do whatever feels right, and there doesn't have to be any fear or lack. And that's

[01:37:33] Arlynn: when you'll get the- I

[01:37:33] Zane: know, but... Yeah. Yeah ... and that's when you'll get the most out of it. That's when, like, you may put on the video.

[01:37:37] You don't even watch the whole thing. You just skip in. You happen to skip to the right spot. You watch for five minutes. That's all you needed, and you can just shut it off. Like, it's- Yeah ... everything happens perfectly from that level.

[01:37:49] Arlynn: Yeah, and those two words, intuitive and, um-

[01:37:53] Zane: Inspiration ...

[01:37:54] Arlynn: inspirational.

[01:37:55] Those two words, they're- Th- and- That's what you have to listen to, like inside ... it w-

[01:38:00] Zane: And it's funny. Intuition, inspiration, insight. They all start with in. They don't start with- ... out there. They start with within. Yeah.

[01:38:15] Arlynn: Insight, inspiration. So I'm writing this-

[01:38:19] Zane: In- and intuition.

[01:38:21] Arlynn: Intuition, yeah. Yeah. And that's... And, um, and that's, that's the whole thing, is that you have to go inside. That's where it's all at

[01:38:34] And it

[01:38:34] Zane: always is inside 'cause it's all the isness. You don't even have to, you don't have to make your way to the isness. It's all of that. You just be that- Right ... to where you're at.

[01:38:44] Arlynn: Exactly. Yeah. So. Right. Amazing. Yeah. It's weird. I'm just kind of looking around. Do you wanna see the lake?

[01:38:58] Zane: Yeah, sure. Yeah.

[01:38:59] The, is-

[01:39:00] Arlynn: I'll take you outside.

[01:39:09] I think it'll, I think the, well, I'm not sure how f- how far the Wi-Fi goes, but

[01:39:19] Yeah, and if you ever need a vacation So this is, yeah, I'm just surrounded. I mean, yeah, like I guess I, I brought this to myself, didn't I?

[01:39:30] Zane: Yeah. It's what, it's, you are the isness. You are the infinite being orchestrating it all without even trying

[01:39:39] Arlynn: Can you see it?

[01:39:40] Zane: Oh, it's beautiful. I love it.

[01:39:43] Arlynn: Yeah.

[01:39:43] Zane: I love the, the, the big kind of hill or mountain in the background too.

[01:39:48] Yeah. That's beautiful.

[01:39:49] Arlynn: Exactly.

[01:39:51] Zane: That's amazing.

[01:39:53] Arlynn: Yep, and then, and then w- I have kayaked, and- Mm ... um, it's [01:40:00] absolutely unbelievable. Like, 'cause the, the kayaks, it makes you feel like you're part of the water.

[01:40:08] Zane: Mm-hmm.

[01:40:09] Arlynn: And I've had many, uh, great experiences. And then this is the rest of the land. Yeah, it's just trees and my studio.

[01:40:20] Anyway.

[01:40:21] Zane: That's awesome.

[01:40:21] Arlynn: I don't... Yeah, and it, it's funny 'cause I thought about that, uh, you know, 'cause, I mean, I'd love to have a retreat here.

[01:40:29] Zane: Well, and who- Yeah ... maybe that's, uh, down the line. Who knows? It-

[01:40:33] Arlynn: Yeah ...

[01:40:33] Zane: we never, we never know. Or, or

[01:40:34] Arlynn: else if people just wanna come and visit, 'cause it's not that big of a place, but just to have their own retreat in the, you know, in this environment, it's like, it's sort of like, uh, an instant

[01:40:50] You're just there, you know? Y- like, when you sit a- and look at the water and listen to the waves and, oh, it's easier to... It's just, it's just incredible. Yeah.

[01:41:02] Zane: Yeah.

[01:41:02] Arlynn: I feel very lucky, and I, and I only live here six months.

[01:41:06] Zane: Oh,

[01:41:06] Arlynn: yeah. In the summer, and then I live in British Columbia.

[01:41:10] Zane: Wow.

[01:41:11] Arlynn: And that's where I teach, um, uh, well, there, we don't call them...

[01:41:15] And this, this is interesting. We don't call them disabled. Mm-hmm. So where I work, um, it's a, a woman that, um, uh, she's been doing this for over 20 years, so instead of, because instead of disabled, we call them the individuals because you're- Hmm ... an individual, I'm an individual, they're an individual, and we're all equal.

[01:41:41] Yeah. So we don't treat them like disabled people.

[01:41:44] Zane: Separate. Y- yeah, yeah.

[01:41:46] Arlynn: And our jobs is to bring out their abilities.

[01:41:50] Zane: Mm-hmm.

[01:41:50] Arlynn: And they paint, and they do pottery. You know, I mean, we have to help. Yeah. Some of them are pretty... You know, they can't do a lot, but they can... But whatever they can do, this organization is incredible, and talk about, like...

[01:42:05] And they, um... Like, I was there, and, uh, they had this, like, three or four people to, you know, reassess this one, this one individual to see how they can help her more. Hmm. And she started the conversation. They are treated like we treated, you know, like

[01:42:26] Zane: humans. Exactly, and-

[01:42:28] Arlynn: Like this-

[01:42:32] Zane: And that's what unlocks all the, the, the gifts. And just like with anybody, it's just by being the isness, seeing all as equal, that's what unlocks the greatness. That's what unlocks all of the beauty and the gifts and... 'Cause we all have those. We all have gifts that we're just waiting to share, but they just, they have to be kind of unlocked from the isness, kind of dissolving that, those blockages and that resistance and that fear, and then our gifts flourish.

[01:43:03] We, we bloom through this. Like, all of our kind of higher abilities come through, just like with you being able to make, like, the clay sphere or the clay circle for the first time, that you normally couldn't do that.

[01:43:15] Arlynn: Oh, right.

[01:43:15] Zane: Like, you didn't even have to train that. You just had to be in a deep state of isness, just being the isness to what is, and that was within you.

[01:43:25] You didn't... Like, that was already within you.

[01:43:29] Arlynn: Yeah. That, that's why, um... Yeah. And b- and, and it had to do with, like, just that interaction, m- m- you know, asking a question.

[01:43:39] Zane: Yeah. And you were just like- And then the next stage ... really just in that, just kind of allowing everything, just not, not getting too into the seeking or anything.

[01:43:49] And then the, and then there you go, and something beautiful emerges. It's like

[01:43:53] Arlynn: you get out of the way.

[01:43:54] Zane: Exactly. It is, yeah.

[01:43:57] Arlynn: And then wherever. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So anyway, yeah. But, but, but that, but that work... And, and that's the other thing, like, like, 'cause this woman, um- Uh, she asked me, you know, when I went to, um, one sec.

[01:44:18] When I went to, um, interview, 'cause, you know, this feed, this, it kept coming up in my feed that they needed a, um, a, a potter to, you know, work with disabled people, disabled adults. Mm-hmm. And it kept coming up, and I went, "You know what? I think that's a way I could give back." Mm-hmm. And so I, I called her, and I had just gotten, um, I was published in a magazine, and it just came in the mail.

[01:44:44] So I, um, so I said to her, um- She said, um, like, uh, what was it? Oh, she said, "Are you sure you wanna come work here? Shouldn't you be out, like, you know, making your, um, uh, you know, a career?" I said, "No, I wanna work here." And- And she says, "Okay." So that was pretty cool.

[01:45:08] Zane: And, and even that was probably all intuition and inspiration.

[01:45:12] Like, that was probably- Yes ... guidance the whole- on both ends. She probably saw your stuff and was inspired and reached out, not even expecting you to, to do it, and then it just all worked out perfectly.

[01:45:24] Arlynn: Mm-hmm.

[01:45:25] Zane: It just

[01:45:25] Arlynn: all- Exactly.

[01:45:26] Zane: Yeah.

[01:45:27] Arlynn: Yeah. So anyway.

[01:45:31] Zane: Well, amazing. Yeah. It's been so good.

[01:45:33] Arlynn: Yeah. It's

[01:45:34] Zane: been lovely.

[01:45:34] Arlynn: No, I know. I've really... Really incredible. I just feel so, like, connected, you know, to the whole thing.

[01:45:43] Yeah. I mean, this is like, you know, 'cause I've been sort of- More on my own, you know? Like, and this just makes it so much better.

[01:45:56] Zane: Connect-

[01:45:56] Arlynn: And it

[01:45:56] Zane: was all there. It was always there. It was just- Yeah ... there was just a little bit of lower mind stuff kind of k- keeping this, the wheels spinning. But we- Yeah ... just neutralized those, and this was always here.

[01:46:09] This was always-

[01:46:10] Arlynn: Yeah ...

[01:46:11] Zane: yeah.
