How to Ground Yourself as a Non-Dual Practitioner
A very common source of energy drainage and stagnation that non-dual practitioners are falling into, and I was stuck in for a very long time. Is where because we keep listening to videos that say things like, all is awareness. Everything is awareness. Everything is you. You are everything. Everything is you pushed out.
Everything is one. Like all of the, the kind of classic non-dual lines. What begins to happen when we're constantly listening to these kinds of videos and engaging with this kind of material is on a subconscious level, the brain and the mind begins to take that on as a belief system and as a mental structure. Um, and this is very problematic because what it does is it messes with the individuation process of the brain and what this means
is that it begins to train your mind and your brain to take responsibility for all of the stimulus and all of the information that it's taking in, which is outside of the physical body. Um, and this is very problematic because it is a huge energy drain because it requires a ton of resources to be taking responsibility for things which are external to the physical body.
It's unnatural and it leads to things like energy drainage, energy stagnation, um, being overly reactive in social situations, emotional instability, being overly sensitive to energy, um, it leads to all kinds of problems, and what you have to understand is that you don't need to do anything to be in a non-dual state.
Everything already is non-dual. That's what non-dual means. Even separation is non-dual. Separation is not counter to non-duality because separation is also made of that one primordial substance, which is isness, which is awareness. Which is the universe, whatever word you want to put to it. Um, but it's very problematic when we train the brain and the mind to begin taking responsibility for external stimuli.
And a lot of the time we don't even realize that this is happening. Um. And then, yeah, it leads to those problems. It leads to things like being overly reactive to the outside world or emotional instability, and it's a huge energy drain. To progress in spirituality and to progress in non-duality.
You don't need to keep listening to non-dual videos and making the non-dual distinctions and insights over and over and over again. Once you've seen that awareness is the substance of everything and you know that to be true, you don't need to keep making that um conclusion. All that does is it forms it into a mental structure.
It forms it into a belief system, which creates these problems. What you need to do in order to progress and in order to live the life of your dreams and to become the person that you always dreamed of is you need to learn energy containment, energy maintenance, energy transmutation. You have to learn how to master your energy because to master your life, you master your energy.
This is how you ascend to the highest spiritual levels is by learning how to stop dissipating and leaking your energy. How to orient and direct your energy in the most productive and constructive ways, And how to transmute low frequency blockages and frozen energies, which are serving as anchors, which keep you stuck.
Um, but so a very powerful exercise that I have found, which is very, very simple, and it seems a bit, um, trivial, but it's very powerful, is what I call the separation technique. And what it is. Is, and I actually learned this from a guy named Aaron Doughty, I think is his name. I don't actually know his name. Um, I haven't seen much of his content.
I just saw his one video on this. Uh, funnily enough, as I was making this, putting together this insight myself, I actually had this video of his popup on my YouTube feed, and it was like the perfect exercise to describe what I'm talking about. Um, but, so I'll link to it in the description of this video, but so what the technique is.
Is you sit down somewhere or you could do it while you're standing or walking or whatever, but you pick an object and then you breathe in, and as you're breathing in, you focus on the object. You focus all of your energy on the object, and then when you breathe out, you focus on the separation between your physical body and the object.
You focus on the separation. And then you breathe in and you focus on the object, and then you breathe out and you focus on the separation. But when you're focusing on the separation. You're still looking at the object. Your eyes don't move, but you're focusing on the separation and then you're focusing on the object and you oscillate between the two.
And the reason that this is useful, and it's a very powerful grounding exercise for nondual practitioners, is what it does is it retrains that individuation process of the brain. And it gets you familiar with that subtle, energetic muscle of attaching your energy to things which are outside of your physical body.
Because it's such a subtle thing, we tend to not even notice when we're doing it, but through this exercise you will become familiar with that muscle and you'll become very proficient at engaging it or withdrawing it at will. And then you'll be able to consciously choose where you're attaching your energy and where
you're taking responsibility of things which are outside your physical body. And in general, you don't wanna take responsibility for much of anything outside of your physical, uh, body unless like you're taking care of a kid or something, or you're holding a piece of glass and you don't want to drop the glass or something.
But in general you only want to be taking responsibility for your physical body because you don't want to be draining unnecessary energy by attaching your energy to things which are external to your physical body. Um, and so yeah, that's very, very practical and useful. It seems a little bit trivial, but it will really help with grounding and it will help with anchoring you in physicality and in your physical world and your physical body. Because that's another common trap
that Nondual people are falling into is it's that other belief system of saying like, oh, the physical world isn't real. It's all a dream. It's all illusion. Like it's all just a projection and like this kind of thing. But again, what you have to understand is that you don't need to do anything for reality
to be non-dual. Reality already is non-dual, and the physical world is not counter to non-duality. You don't need to be conditioning yourself to say that the physical world is an illusion or it's it's not real in order to be in a non-dual state. What this ends up doing is it just creates dissociation,
it creates floatiness, it creates feelings of feeling, um, like not connected with the reality of the relative. But when you're in the higher spiritual states and you're in the, you're in the highest like energ
etic frequencies. You should actually be feeling very, very, very grounded and in touch with the relative world. The relative world should actually feel more real. It's paradoxical because on one way it is illusion. But there's a difference between adopting that as a belief which creates floatiness and apathy and stagnation versus the lived felt experience of that, which actually makes it feel even more real.
That's when you get to that place of it being like when nothing matters, everything matters. But not in like a heady, kind of fake way, in a genuine, grounded way where you have complete full engagement and connection with everything in the relative world, but with absolutely no attachment. Um. But so this individuation process is very important to embrace, and it's very important to embrace the reality of the physical world and to use physicality to your advantage because there's actually many advantages to having a physical body.
And in order to ascend to the highest spiritual states, you have to use the physical body to your advantage. And what the physical body is very, very useful for is it is a magnificent container of energy. It is very good for containing energy and circulating it and oscillating it. Um. And building charge in magnetism and gravity.
Um, and that is how you build energy and you stop leaking it and you get to higher frequency levels. You don't get to higher frequency levels by clinging to non-dual beliefs or like meditating really hard, like meditating can be useful. But you don't need to meditate. What you need to do is to learn energy maintenance, energy containment, and to learn how to transmute challenging, um, lower frequencies, which is one of the main things that I talk about on this channel.
Um. But, so yeah, you, you, you want to embrace physicality and you want to embrace the realness of the physical world, and you want to be very, very in touch with the reality of the relative. Um.
And so adding onto this, this, this, this part about lack of individuation and training your mind to take responsibility for things. This is the reason why a lot of spiritual people, as they become more spiritual. They'll start to have issues where it feels like they're overly sensitive or they're sensitive to other people's energy, or they're affected by the energy of their environment, or they're affected by like the energy of certain cities or things like that.
You have to understand that it does not have to be like that. You should be able to be in a room jam packed full of people with the darkest, heaviest, most corrupted energies you could ever imagine and be completely unaffected, be completely unfazed. You should never be being affected by the energy of your external environment.
Whatsoever, unless you're consciously choosing to, unless you want to because it feels good. But you shouldn't be like standing next to one someone and being affected by their energy. If that kind of thing is happening, the reason that that's happening is because you've consciously or usually subconsciously trained your mind and trained your energy to take responsibility for other people's energy and to be mingling with other people's energy.
Um, and this is just, it's completely unproductive and it leads to quite intense energetic drainage and stagnation because you're just mingling with energies and that doesn't do anything productive. It doesn't help the other person. It just drains their energy. And even if it does temporarily help them, say your high frequency makes someone in a lower frequency feel better if you're doing that in a way where you're mingling with their energies
and you're mixing with them. It may feel like you're helping them, but you're actually not, because you're just conditioning them to be reliant on you. You're conditioning them to be codependent, to rely on your energy to feel good, and that's not actually helping someone. You help someone by orienting your energy in the most productive and aligned and powerful way, um, and serving as an energetic lighthouse in terms of how to align energy and how to hold energy in the most productive ways.
And then people will effortlessly orient towards that and be influenced by your energetic field without you being drained or dissipated whatsoever. Um. So, yeah, this is very, very important. You should never be being affected by other people's energy. If this is happening, it's 'cause you've trained your system to take responsibility for their energy or to be like mingling with it.
But you can fix that through this separation technique, through focusing on the separation. And through learning to contain your energy within your physical body and learning how to not be dissipating it and leaking it outwardly, um, and embracing the physical world. Because if you're taking on a belief system of, oh, the physical world is all illusion, none of it matters, it's all, it's all awareness.
Again, that will turn into a belief and that will create problems. It will mess with your brain's natural processes, and it will create stagnation and, and dissipation. Um, and relating to this you have to understand that nothing in science or like normal physical reality is counter to non-duality. Like science is made of non-duality.
Like recognizing that it's all illusion or something doesn't mean that science isn't real. Science is very much real and you want to live your life as if it is. Now, that's not to say that there aren't, there are most definitely mystical, magical things that can happen from spiritual states, which can't be explained by science.
That is very true. Um, but there are many, many elements of science and of physical 3D reality, which are very true, like a very simple one is gravity. Like you want to live your life as if gravity is real. It wouldn't make sense to just be like, oh, well it's all an illusion, so I'm gonna jump off a building because I can just fly.
Like that's not, that's not a good idea. And that's true for all kinds of things. Like another example is. Um, it's like if we were to poke a hole in your brain, your awareness will completely, fundamentally change. The awareness itself won't change because awareness is transcendent. Like the, the awareness is like the screen, and no matter what happens to the movie, the screen is technically unaffected, but the content of awareness would completely, fundamentally change.
And you wanna honor that. You want to honor the implications of affecting your physical body and doing things to your physical body, which could impact the content of your awareness and which could impact your energy because your energy is a part of the movie. It's not the screen. The screen is the transcendent part.
And, but at the end of the day, you already are the screen, so you don't need to keep focusing on the screen and just saying it's all the screen so none of it matters. What you want to do is to have the insight of the screen and to understand that ultimately you can transcend the movie. But with that, it's not about saying the movie doesn't matter.
What it's really about is learning how to live the best movie possible, how to live the life of your dreams, and how to become the highest version of yourself. Um, and so yeah, this is very, very important. You have to learn energy containment and energy. It's, it's, it's a combination of energy containment, which is learning how to hold energy within your structure without dissipating it outwardly through various
low frequency thoughts, behaviors, patterns, belief systems, et cetera. And then also learning how to transmute low frequency sticking points, frozen energies, learning how to transmute those, which happens through flowing isness, which is something that most of my channel is about. So I'm not gonna get too much into the transmuting energies part on this video. But
energy containment and grounding is very, very important. Um. You should not be being affected by anything external to your physical body. Other people's energy should not affect you. Cities should not affect you. Nothing about your environment should have an ability to drain or lower your energy. You should be able to tune into other people's energy and to tune into the energy of cities and things like that.
Um, consciously when you want to, but you shouldn't then be being affected by it seemingly against your will. Because ultimately you're a sovereign being, you can only experience what you consent to. And so if you're being affected by energies of other people, it's 'cause you're subconsciously consenting to that.
And the way that you're subconsciously consenting to that is through having trained your brain to turn off this individuation process. Um, and to be taking responsibility for things external to the physical body. Um. And so, yeah, and just to add onto this, like learning how to master your energy and how to contain your energy
this is how you manifest better circumstances. Like what manifestation is all about. Ultimately, you're always manifesting your entire reality. Like your reality is a reflection of your internal energies and the way that your energy is, does get reflected back to you in the 3D world. Um. But so the thing is, is you don't need to visualize or do techniques or do anything to manifest a better reality.
At the end of the day, all you need to do to manifest better circumstances is to have better energy. And the way that you have better energy is by these two things. It's by energy containment, which is learning not to dissipate and leak your energy through non-productive things, which could be like spiritual seeking, like doing things from a place of lack, um, engaging with low frequency behaviors.
Um. Basically doing anything from a place of fear or lack or reactivity, which are really all essentially the same thing. Um, and then so you learn energy containment and you learn how to transmute low frequencies, frozen energies through the flowing isness, through disconnecting your energy supply from the frozen energies by transcending them and not snagging on them.
Um, but I say this because visualizing and trying to manifest better realities, this is another very common energy leakage that will keep people trapped because what it's doing is it's like you're projecting this idea into the future. It's like you're creating this mental model of this reality that you want to attain to, and then you're channeling so much energy into that.
But all it's doing. As it's draining your energy in the present. It may feel high frequency in a way, but it's not really stable and it's not really grounded and embodied. And so it doesn't, it very rarely leads to actual transformation and results. Um, and it just keeps you on the wheel of samsara. It just keeps you.
It keeps your energy stagnating and reacting and it keeps you stuck in patterns. Um, but the way to manifest a better reality is to master your energy, learn how to stop leaking energy, and then learn how to transmute lower frequencies, which are serving as anchors, which are keeping you stuck. Um, and that happens through flowing isness or transcendence. Um, and. So, yeah.
That's very, very good to tune into is separation. You actually want to embrace separation. You have to understand that separation is not counter to non-duality because separation is also non-dual. Everything is non-dual. Like you don't need to keep listening to non-dual pointers and listening to what's in between this and that, or it's all just effortless awareness like
you already know that. That's already true. Like we already know, it's all awareness. What you need to learn to do is what my teacher, David Bingham calls the energetic implications of the dualistic realm. And what that means is learning energy containment, learning energy mastery, because if you master your energy, that's how you master your life.
And so that's my message for today.
All right, so as a little bonus clip, I want to give you guys another like very body-based grounding technique, which is very useful if you. If you find your energy is like all up here and it's kind of floaty and you feel a little bit scattered, which is very common for non-dual spiritual people, like we love to have our energy all up here and it feels very good and it's useful because you may be very highly intuitive in getting a lot of insights with it all up here, and it's useful.
You want your energy to be able to flow everywhere, but it's problematic when your energy is stuck up here because what it does is it, it knocks you off balance, it makes you ungrounded. And even if you are having powerful insights and intuitions, what you'll find is they won't be grounded. And even if you go to share them, they won't have power and authority behind them because you're not centered.
And you'll find that people won't really want to listen to you or people like. Just kind of consider you airy fairy and like, don't really take you seriously. It's 'cause you're off center and your energy is all up here and it's not balanced. But so a very powerful technique, and this is just something that kind of intuitively came to me.
I don't, they probably do this in like Qigong or something, but it looks a little silly. But, so here's what you want to do. You go like this. And you breathe in and as you're breathing in, you feel the floatiness. You feel all the energy up here. You feel the lightness, the airiness. You feel the lack of grounding.
You feel all of this up here and you feel your energy all scattered and so you breathe in. And you feel that, and then as you breathe out, you go, it looks crazy. It looks crazy. And if you feel yourself not wanting to do this, the fact that you don't want to do it is the exact reason why you would benefit from it.
So here's what you do. You go feel the floatiness, feel the airiness, and then on the out breath, as you do the. You feel your belly and you feel your chest and you feel your groin and you feel all down here. You feel your center, and so you go.
And you feel your power. You feel your center, you feel masculine, drive, direction, structure, tune into your raw physicality. You want to be in touch with your masculine. The non-dual community is severely over feminized. It's too, it's too flowing, too, too transcendent, too too yielding. And it's good you want to, all human beings want to be a healthy mix of feminine and masculine.
That's how you ascend to the highest levels, is your masculine and your feminine have to be balanced. And that's how you ascend to the highest levels. 'cause you can only ascend as high as you're in balance. And if you're too feminine, if you're too airy fairy and you're not structured and centered. You'll, you'll be floaty and you won't be progressive and you'll keep regressing.
So this is very, very useful. You go
And you feel that. You don't have to do it that loud. You can do it kind of quietly if you want, but you feel the because the it comes from here. It's all around here. And this is where your center needs to be because this is your center. Your, if your center's up here, you're off balance and you're gonna have problems.
You want, you want your energy to flow everywhere, but you want to be anchored and centered around here. This is your power. This is your structure. And so,
and that should help pull you into your body and to have you more in your belly, more in your chest, more in your authority, and to be more flowing with your masculine. Don't be stuck all up here in this airy, heady space. Be centered in the, hooh. Be centered in that. Be centered in your belly and speak from there.
Speak from there, and your voice will carry power and authority and people will take you more seriously. It doesn't matter how good of insights and intuition you have, if all your energy is up here, it doesn't really mean shit because it's not grounded, and so it's not productive and constructive. You have to be centered.
You have to be anchored in your physicality. And to flow from there, from the. So yeah, I know it looks crazy, but. If you feel yourself not wanting to do that, that's the reason why you need to do it. That's why you would benefit so much from doing it, because that's your own resistance. That's your own energy
wanting to stay stuck up here because that's the familiar pattern, but you need to be anchored in your physicality, anchored in your physical body, and to embrace that. Embrace separation, embrace boundaries. Feel into words like drive, direction, ambition, power, structure, masculinity, boundaries. You need your masculine to be in balance.
You cannot be over feminized. You will you you will get walked all over and your energy will be a mess. You need to have a mixture of both. You need to be able to oscillate between the two. Um, and so yeah, that's my grounding exercises and techniques for today. Hope you enjoy.
